I don't believe it...

I'm running a full-day retreat tomorrow and have been preparing the place.  Somehow I stumbled and turned my second toe back on itself (it's longer than my big toe) and I'm pretty sure it's broken.  I'm icing it but can't put it up as I've too much to do.

Just venting....

Ouch! :vibes::vibes::vibes: that it stops hurting so much. I broke my big toe (a big fat dog jumped on it, believe it or not), hobbled around for weeks and then finally got it checked out. The doctor didn't do anything except tell me not to do a lot of standing or walking and to wear roomy shoes.

Yes, I think I'm just going to have to go and put it up as it's swelling madly.. it's pointless trying to work through it..

Get it elevated and ice on it I dont think the doctor would tell you to do much more than that, hope it feels better soon!

Ugh. :(

Once you elevate and ice, you can put cotton between that toe and the one next to it and tape them together. I had to do that once for a bad sprain.

Broken toes are so painful - Ihave had two. You can't do anthing other than ice and rest - and if necessary strapping one tow tot he next, though usually the doctor doesn't even do that. Many vibes for the pain th stop and a full recovery.:vibes:

Yup. Best things to do. I've broken a few toes - mostly from running around bare-footed and catching them on chair or table legs. And I've learned the best thing is tape the toe to its buddy toe, to restrict movement. The last toe I broke almost a year ago, and it took about 6 weeks to get back to regular size. But taping helped - inconvenient, but helpful. And ibuprofen also came to the rescue.

Feel better!!! :alright:

Elevate the foot, put ice packs on it for no more than 20 minutes at a time, several times per day. Take Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the pain and to help reduce swelling.

Xray is pointless because even if it is broken, they don't put casts on for broken toes.

Just keep the pressure of the toe by either walking on the heel of that foot, or using some crutches.

Thank you everyone... early morning over here and just getting ready for a big day.

I'm going to have to take the painkillers suggested.  I'm also doing the taping, as I can't possibly rest it.

Thanks again... It's lovely to have the support from you.

oh Mani, that just sucks! I broke my little toe a few years ago and I know how painful it is. Icing and taping it is about the only thing you can do. I hope you manage to limp around ok today and can dull the pain with meds.

Glad you're feeling a little better. And don't do anything else now for awhile. Just rest.

I broke my little toe many years ago. Coming out of a convenience store, I walked into the corner of the parking stop. I had sandals on and the corner caught my little toe....the toe was at a right angle, sticking out of the sandal, so I knew it was broken. Drove home and Rick and I snapped it back into place...well, he snapped and I cried.
Taped the toe to the next one and spent the day icing the toe. Took awhile for it to feel better.
