Hello Everyone,
I came to this site years ago when I had a health issue with my cat Tucker. Thanks to the help of everyone here, Tucker pulled though, and I ended up giving her to a friend due to compatability problems with our kitten Andy.
Sadly, we had to make the hard, hard decision to put Andy to rest last night. Andy has always had an issue using his litter box, but we have dealt with it through the years, and learned that letting him out at night pretty much saved our carpet from being soiled. If he did have an accident, it was always in the same place, on a plastic mat we put down to save the carpet. Andy was my sweet little boy, and I am totally devistated with what happend this week. Starting last Friday I noticed a slight change in his behavior. He pee'd on the mat, and didn't really want to go out that night. Saturday same thing, but otherwise normal. Sunday eve he slowed his eating considerably, and came down with a fever. He became slow to respond, did not make much eye contact, and had some trouble on his feet. We took him to the Vet on Monday morning, had him treated there, and brought him home to start him on anti-biotics. Tuesday he stopped eating and drinking all together. I was syringe feeding him at this point, but he had trouble keeping it down. Wednesday I took him in to get hydrated. Thursday morning he started breathing hard. Took him back to the Vet Thursday eve, and found out he had a 107 degree fever. His nose and ears felt normal, but the doctor said something about his core temp. They proceeded to do some more treatments, and suggested bringing him to the Emergency Animal Hostpital for overnight treatment. When Tucker was sick we had a bad experiance with the hospital, so I decided we were going to take him home. When we were getting ready to leave, the receptionist, who was extremely kind and compassionate, basically told me the truth of Andy's current conditiion, and said that she didn't think he would make it through the night if we took him home. At this point I took him out of his crate, his blue eyes were now yellow, and his skin on the side of his head was yellow. He was really having a hard time breathing, and was pretty much unresponsive. He was trying to communicate with me, but I had to support his head while I petted him to keep him somewhat comfortable. I couldn't watch him suffer any longer, and made my decision. Andy was only 4 years old.
I am attaching copies of Vet reciepts and lab work for Monday the 24th and Thursday the 27th, in hopes that someone here can tell me maybe what went wrong. I am so deeply hurt right now, wondering what I could have done to prevent losing my little buddy.
