Can you believe this is the last Friday of September already? It's just amazing how fast this month went.

We're making plans for apple-picking time on Oct 13th. There's a neat orchard down around Gettysburg, PA that we're going to visit with my brother and SIL. And they have Mutsu apples, so life will be good.....the Mutsu is my favorite apple. (Normally, we go to Connecticut to visit with my GF, do our apple picking, and just enjoy being together for the weekend. However, with a new kitty in our midst and with everything going on with my mom and with the kitchen remodeling, there's no way I'm going to make it to Conn this year.)

But I digress.....sorry. My question for you today......finish the sentence:

I love apple _________________.

Dumplings? Pie? Sauce? Cake? Cookies? Muffins? In a dessert or part of an entree? How do you like your apples??

Applesauce is great!

How do you make it in a crock pot?

I don't even know how to make it any other way either.

I've only ever had store bought

it's easy!

10 lg. cooking apples, peeled, cored & sliced or cut in chunks
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 to 1 c. sugar

and cook for about 8-10 hours (shorter if you like it chunky!)

then you mash it with a potato masher or fork to break up the pieces.

Apples and peanut butter for a snack. :) Apple crisp is pretty darn good too.
