We-had-a-health-insurance-meeting-at-work-yesterday,rates-went-up,gee,big-surprise.But-what-upset-me-and-others,is-if-you-don't-sign-up-for-the-Blue4U,it-increases-your-premium,another-$50-month.

They-want-you-to-fill-out-a-medical-health-questionaire,and,have-a-fla-bot-o-mist,come-in-and-take-your-blood-pressure-and-do-a-fasting-blood-panel.

They-say,its-confidential,your-employer-is-not-given-the-results,but-how-the-heck,do-you-really-know???

So,premiums-went-up,as-well-as-med-co-pays-and-drs-visits-co-pays.

What-do-you-think?Have-you-had-this-happen-to-you-with-your-health-insurance?

This-just-way-smacks,of-a-way-for-your-employer-to-find-out-personal-medical-information,and-I-can-just-see,them-using-it-against-you.

Might,have-the-money-to-get-a-new-keyboard,this-week,lol.

It hasn't happened to me, but my DH is doing it, too. He does the medical health questionnaire, BP, and blood panel. It is supposed to be confidential, but no, you don't really know. He gets a discounted premium if he does these things (which is why he does it)  and he's been doing them now for 4-5 years. They had it for spouses for the first two years, so I went in and had my blood panel done and did the questionnaire, too. They don't do it for spouses anymore...if they did, I'd keep having it done.

Oh, DH's business also has a smokers' premium, too. If you smoke, you pay a higher premium. You're tested, so you can't lie.

For the past few years we've had the questionnaire and get an extra $200 in the account (it is an HSA, which I HATE) if you fill it out.

FYI, you don't have to tell the entire truth in the questionnaire, and so far no one has come out to do a blood panel or whatever.  I would not be happy about that.

What they do keep trying to do is get me to "manage" my healt through their doctors.  That will be the day I go to my insurance to tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing.
