Read the entire question before answering.

My cat is a small adult female of 7 years old. She is tiny for her size and only weighs about 6-7 lbs. We are putting flea medicine on her neck, but what is her limit? How much can she take before she gets seriously sick or dies? We applied it TWICE, but we washed it off with flea shampoo. We applied it a third time minutes ago and it has not been washed off of course. My cat had what appeared to be a miniature seizure and has not been eating regularly after the second time. However, my mother and I are severely entomophobic and having fleas is psychologically torturous to us, which is why we treat her so often. I don't want my cat to die, she's like a sister to me. How much more can she take? What are the potential risks of using medicine and how many times must I use it for those particular risks to come into play?

This all took place in the course of a week. We also set of 3 bombs in a very small house within that week.

Also, in your experience, what is the BEST flea fogger to use to kill an infestation?

I need help, I need someone to discuss this with and have gone to many sites. I don't have many minutes on my phone at all but I guess I'll have to call a vet somehow if I don't get satisfactory answers.

Applying flea meds 3 times in a week AND using flea shampoo AND using flea bombs is some serious overkill, and that might be literal :(. She has been poisoned--the seizure means some serious toxicity. Her kidneys and liver have probably taken a real hit. I would get her in to the vet ASAP for bloodwork to see what damage has been done, maybe if they give her fluids now it will minimize the damage. What brands of flea meds/shampoo did you use? I really hope not Hartz. . .one dose of that has killed cats, I can't imagine what 3 doses and several shampoos and bombing would do.

The tolerance depends on what chemicals are used, but it's not safe to use any of them the way you've been using them. Please follow a vet's advice for any further flea treatments, if she lives :(.

Once a month.... if you continue with this, you WILL kill your cat.
Please wash her...... NOW - and NOT with a flea shampoo - wash her over and over again!!!
ONLY put flea medication on her you get from the vet - i.e. Advantage, Frontline, etc. Do NOT, by any circumstances, put anything you buy on supermarkets, or OTC meds.
Your post really scared me, I am sorry, but while I understand your fear of fleas, it gives the impression that you are trying to poison the cat :dk:

How excessive is this!!
We applied it TWICE, but we washed it off with flea shampoo. We applied it a third time minutes ago and it has not been washed off of course.
She had a mini seizure after the second application, then you apply MORE poison by washing her with flea shampoo, then you apply MORE poison after that - a THIRD dose?
I mean - seriously? :sigh:

Please take your poor kitty to the vet ASAP and don't put anything else on her.

I would consider re homing her if your phobia is that bad because your going to kill her.

I would live with fleas before I did this to my babies.

OMG.....Please do not do that to your cat!!!

You need education as to how to care for your animals.  Call a vet.  Borrow a phone with minutes on it.

Sorry to be blunt, but you may be killing your kitty.  What a shame.

Did you cat survive the night? Have you taken her to a vet?

And I highly recommend that rather than treating your cat improperly with poison, and seeking information about her tolerance level to something that will kill her if it hasn't already, I suggest that you and your mother seek treatment for your phobia, rather than subject your cat to what is clearly animal abuse and cruelty. :(

This is terrible. You are going to kill your cat. You do not say if you have actually seen any fleas or where they are, but what you are doing is way over the top. If the lfea infestation in the house is that bad you need to take the cat to the vet to be properly treated and get out of the house yourself while a pest control company treat it from top to bottom. Cats will get fleas from time to time but vet-provided advantage or Frontline, administered monthly, will kill and control them unless there is a existing infestation in the house. But please, please do not treat the cat any more - One application is always enough to protect the cat and the house from the occasional flea that may get in. And flea shampoos and collars KILL CATS.
