I have what sounds like the exact same problem with our cat! It looks like she's been crying. Please advice?!?

How old are your cats?

Is the "watery eyes" just that - watery? Or is it "gunky?" If it is "gunky," then kitty most likely needs an antibiotic, and yes, a vet trip is in order.

If it is watery, it can be a herpes flare-up. The herpes virus is very common in cats, and is often triggered by stress. We discuss the use of L-Lysine in this thread: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/247989/...for-how-long-and-for-what-and-other-questions

L-Lysine disrupts the replication of the herpes virus (proven in studies). The discussion above is about how much to give. It's best to start with a smaller amount twice daily - see if it causes any kind of GI upset in your kitty (sometimes diarrhea). If not, gradually increase the twice daily amount up to 1,000mg per day. If the watery eyes clear up before you reach that level, you obviously don't need to go that high.

Oh - L-lysine can be purchased as powder. 1/4 teaspoon is 500mg. I buy the NOW brand, and I just sprinkle it on their food. If you don't feed wet food, perhaps you can buy some pouches or something to serve up as a treat twice a day in order to give them the lysine. :)
