Hi all, my beloved siamese has something wrong in both ears at the moment, shes keeping them clean herself quite happily and always has done, never had mites or anything, she seems bright and alert, her usual self, am hopeing someone can tell what it is from my photos....

I really can't tell.  From the photos it could be several things.  Is she scratching and digging into them?  They look inflamed but not infected or oozy.  Is it both ears and the ears only?  No spots around the neck or chin area?  I'm just guessing it might be mites if it's only in the ears.  Maybe one of the TCSers will have different ideas on what it could be.  I'd call the vet if it were me just to be sure.

Shes not scratching or anything, it is in both ears, she wouldn't keep still for the photos, (normally shes very photogenic!) it was looking a bit yellow and pusy but she cleaned it herself just before I took the photos, i'll have a go at taking some more later...

I would take her to the vet rather than take more pictueres.  There is a whole host of things it could be and without being able to examine her a sound diagnosis isn't possible.

I will be taking her to a vet as soon as I can, just wondered if it was anything common in cats or something obvious to anyone...

I can't quite tell from the photo...is it sort of a raised irritation? Is it flaked-off skin with redness underneath? Is it crusty?

My Imogen had a bad yeast infection in her ears a couple of years ago that grew out of irritation from the mites she brought home from the shelter and which her first vet (to which I haven't returned) didn't completely get rid of. It didn't look exactly like what you photos show, but that's what I first thought of when I saw them. Nonetheless, I'd get your girl to a vet ASAP. She may need anitibiotics, antifungals, a steriod shot, etc. Any number of things could be irritating her. Could be heat rash, allergies, anything. A vet's your best bet.

Back from the vets, its a infection caused by harvest mites, couple of injections and she should be back to normal soon, Yay! On the down side, my other cat needs expensive dental treatment, thats not going to be much fun for her!
