What is the number of the most cats you've had in your care at one time? This includes your own, fosters, ferals, pet sitting, all of them, what's the highest number? What is the maximum number of kitties you are comfortable with caring forr?

I used to rescue feral momma cats and their kitties (there are a lot of poor strays in Texas!) so the most I've ever cared for has been about a dozen. The most kitties I have called my own has been three at a time, that's the limit for my comfort as far as giving them attention and expenses, etc.

Just my two, I don't think I would have anymore where I Live now unless it was a complete emergency

Way back, in the good ol' days, our family once had about 30 running around. It was still country then.

I think we had six or seven outdoor cats at one time. There was Annie, who basically came with the house; our own three cats (Stripe, Wishy and Spunky) we had raised since they were kittens; two kittens (Crissy and Trouble) we got from my grandma after she guilt tripped us about taking them to the shelter; and this sweet elderly stray (Butch) who had befriended us and decided to hang around. My memory may not be perfect though... I'm not sure if Stripe was still around by the time we had Crissy, Trouble and Butch.

As far as indoor cats, the most we've had at one time is three: Ana, Tohey and Keef. <3

Six. This isn't going to sound very nice and I'm sorry, but I really still think that six is a good number. You have no idea how much I miss the days when Banshee was alive and she kept everybody in line; she ruled with a velvet paw and everybody else knew it, including Rick and me. There was always lots of clumping and cuddling with all of them together and we don't have that anymore; I really miss walking into the bedroom and finding five or six cats in one huge clump on the bed. I always said that six was our limit, that it was a good number. And even though, we are now at eight, and even though I love Tabby dearly and I love Muffin, too, I still think that six was our "good" limit. I really am overwhelmed by eight cats at times. (sorry)

Only one at a time and because of my cat allergies it will probably always be one.

Over the river and through the woods...
If you're including all, then we are up to about 40. 6 indoor/outdoor cats and the rest are barn cats and drop offs. We try to spay/neuter when we can and find homes for the kittens but everyone here has enough of cats (country) so homes are hard to find. We make up shelters for the winter and make sure they have food and water. We spend more money on cat food then we do on our own food!

Most we've ever had was 3.  And I took #3 in as an emergency.

We had to put Jasper (cat #3) down last month- he had cancer and was pretty sick

Still have 2, and that's the number I'm comfortable with.  At least right now- with Sneaky going on 12 and having her own health issues- I really don't want to take in a 3rd.

Though if dd had shown us the kitten they found on campus (the professor who is the chair of the music dept was trying to get one of the orchestra members to take it in) and it had no where else to go- I guess we would have taken it back from dd's school.

Oh well let's see... MY KITTIES- I have 10.

Foster kitties.. currently I have... 11.

I'd say the most i've had in my care at once is right around 25.

Indoors--23 right now. Supposedly 2 of them are fosters. . .their owner just had a preemie baby and is spending all her time in NICU, and since I live too far away to go to her house every day to feed them, I just took them home. But I don't know if she'll want them back because she'll be so busy with a special-needs baby, so they might stay. Outside there are 4 regulars.

13.

I had 3 cats of my own in the house, then I took in 4 kittens that I trapped early enough to be socialized and adopted out. Their Momma and 2 of her other kittens from previous litters (before we managed to catch her and get her fixed) were cared for outside. we also had 3 other outdoor cats that we cared for - 2 feral and 1 that someone dropped off but attacked 2 people in the house and became an outdoor cat. Guess it was better than being brought to a shelter and euthanized for being 'evil kitty' (pretty sure she was abused by the previous owner's daughter :( )

Most of the cats were black :lol3: Any superstitious people were sure to avoid my place!

Oh, I forgot the other questions! Yes, this is the highest number of cats I've had in my care. What's the highest number of cats I'd be comfortable caring for? I don't know! :lol3: Honestly, I don't find caring for 23 to be any harder than caring for 8 or 10. It also depends on the cats. Adding just one who picks fights or doesn't use the litterbox is worse than adding 5 who all behave themselves.

The most I ever had at one time would be three of my own cats along with 3 litters of foster kittens. Another foster mom was sick at the time, so I had the one litter I was caring for and took in the two litters she was fostering to help out. So, I think there were about 15 kittens total, plus my three = 18 cats! It was crazy, but I made it work with a really strict feeding/cleaning schedule. I was very happy when all of the kittens went up for adoption and found good homes lol. (Most of those litters were bottle babies too, so I got zero sleep while I had them! When I foster, I usually keep the foster litters caged and separated from my own furbabies and keep everything as clean as possible to avoid spreading potential illness.) When I was actively fostering, I tried to keep it to only one litter (usually 4-6 kittens) because I usually take in the bottle babies and they demand more around the clock care and supervision. Right now though, I've got my hands full with my working/comp dogs and the three kitties I own, so not currently fostering. I think it's really important for people to know their limits and when it's appropriate to take a break if need be. :)

I have two of my own right now in my own apartment, and DH (across the street) has two in his own apartment as well. So I guess you could say we have four.

In one house, the most inside kitties I'd be comfortable with is around 5. That is also highly dependent on space and resources.

Right now I have 4 house cats, all rescues.  I also have a feral cat that has it real comfy in my garage.  I'm maxed out on cats and dogs.  I can't take any more in.  All of them eat premium food and get the best vet care possible.  I also own a horse which I board out at one of the local stables.  Budget wise, I am at my limit to be able to give them the best food and care possible so I'm stopping where I am right now.  I'd love to save them all.
