When Muffin was diagnosed with the liver cancer in May, the test results said primary liver tumor (which was removed) and liver inflammation.  Since his surgery, he has dealt with ups and downs.  I am hoping the vet will agree at some point to let me put him on a supplement to enhance his liver function.  Now my question for you cat siters is, does anyone here have a cat who is being treated with some sort of supplement and if so, what is it.

Isn't he on Denosyl? :dk: I don't know anything about it other than isn't it meant to provide liver support? :dk:

If he is on it, I don't know if milk thistle would be contra-indicated or not. But ask your vet about milk thistle!

https://www.wellvet.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=SILYT This is one example of the product, but it is made with glycerin, not alcohol, which is better for pets, and it has the dosage listed for animals.

Several years ago he was on Denamarin, which is a combination of milk thistle and sam-e.  It made him vomit all the time so we stopped it.  He has always had a high liver alt in his bloodwork and that is why I tried it.  He had no symptoms and being sick or any other problems.  Of course since then he developed the liver cancer, etc.

Well I don't know anything about either. But maybe Milk Thistle alone would not make him vomit?

The other one I saw mentioned frequently was Dandelion something. Give it a google! Dandelion liver treatment in cat..... maybe it's different enough it wouldn't make him throw up. :dk:

Thanks I will search that out.  And your suggestion is what my vet has also suggested, that when we get ready me mighty try either/or of the ingredients in the Denamarin.  It clearly was working because during that time, his liver number came down to almost normal.

tumeric - no personal experience, but I know there has been at least one study out of India that shows it is effective in killing cancer cells
