The best food for your cat may not be the best for anyone else.  You want a food that they will eat willingly, has enough fat and protein to support growth, has a minimum of grains and other stuff that cats can't really digest and don't need, and doesn't upset your particular kitten's digestive system.

We've had good luck with Purina Kitten Chow.  Yeah, it's not the greatest stuff, but it seems to agree with most cats, smells good to them, and doesn't cause big problems.

Wet kitten food is not as common, and is definitely more expensive, but it's probably the best bet.

It all depends on your price range! Brands like Innova, Evo, Orijen, Acana are all great but cost 20-25 dollars (depending on where you live) per 5 pound bag. Also some have a lot of fish and that is controversial.
Some more affordable brands- Healthwise, Taste of the Wild, Kirklands brand (yet again watch out for the amount of fish).
Good luck!

It depends on wha you are willing to spend, how much work you are willing to put into feeding.... :dk:
The healthiest way to go, IMHO, will be wet foods, grain free preferably, and the very best, IMHO, Raw food. But it takes more work than kibbles..... Kitty will be a happier and healhier kitty for life though.....
My 2-cents :wavey:

A pretty good kitten food is Royal Canin! Before switching to raw, my kitten was on that for about 2mos and did really well. It was also what Cookie ate when she was a baby. I prefer Babycat over the Kitten though - at least until up to 6mos of age.

If you're stuck with something you can get at a grocery store, I've had pretty good results with Purina ONE Kitten dry food. I have used Kitten Chow in a pinch but I think they do better on Purina ONE. If you can find it locally, I've also had success with Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul (dry). They both cost about the same (for me anyway). And for canned food, Fancy Feast Kitten and Royal Canin Babycat. There are also some good all-life-stages foods like EVO (both dry and canned).
