Swimmers

Hi everybody, has anyone had any experience with a kitten who has swimmers. One or several of legs stick out like a frog and is hard for them to hold their weight. I have akit with this in one of her back legs. I am keen to find out what the future holds for her.

If it's just a back leg or legs they usually sort themselves out once the kitten starts trying to walk.  If you have slippery floors it needs them covering with something grippy while this happens.

No experience myself, but know you can fit a home made brace on their legs - a vet needs to be consulted and can show you how to do it properly, the kitten should then grow up normally. 

Some vets have no idea about this.  When a friend had a kitten born with this problem the vet initially suggested euthanasia!  As it happened the kitten sorted herself out as she started walking and was perfect by 13 weeks.
