Over the river and through the woods...
Do you know how old your house/apartment building is?

I know the house we are living in is at least as old as I am. When we were ripping down the walls for the addition, we found newspapers from 1969 which was the year I was born. Now, whether that is when the house was built or the last time it was added on to I don't know. MIL has the deed and I'll have to ask her.

The house I grew up in dated back to 1919. I just think it's interesting to trace a building's history.

We live in a old farmhouse a few blocks form downtown - it's been here since the mid-to-late 1800's. It was originally owned by the Hudson Bay Company and this area was an orchard that provided fresh fruit for sailors coming in from sea. (We're about a block from a deep sea port.) We still have a lot of fruit trees in the yard!

We built it in 2002 on my grandparents farm.  We knocked down the 100 year old farm house where I grew up to build this one.

My current place was built about 1996. But the house I grew up in was built by my maternal grandfather about 1930 from lumber salvaged from much older buildings.
