Okay, I was anticipating rehoming them about October 2, 2012 or after.  I'm not asking for a rehoming fee, just:

1.  Have them spayed or neutered by the time they're about 6 months old.

2.  Please NEVER declaw one of these babies.

3.  Feed them as well as you can afford to.  They are eating canned food, some dry food, goats' milk, and gave them cut-up shrimp one time.

I have four kittens:

1.  Two dark-red tabby males, look like they might be either short-haired or medium-haired.

2.  One solid dark-gray female, either short-haired or medium-haired.

3.  One buff-colored female.

I am in the high desert (Lancaster) above Los ngeles, Califronia. My car is running and I am driving locally, but I don't trust it for very long distances.

You can see my cat pictures on Facebook.  I am Pamela B. Maltzman.

My e-mail is [email protected].  Contact me by e-mail or through Facebook.

Thanks!

They'll be ready to go October 23rd, at 12 weeks old.

It's best if you can neuter & vaccinate them before they leave, there's many low cost options available in the US. You then charge this fee to the new owners, giving kittens away for free is never a good idea.

:yeah:. People look for "free kitten" ads and use the kittens for unspeakable things. Lab testing, dog fight bait and worse. And, of course, spay the mama too! :)

I have to say that although I wish I could spay/neuter the kittens before rehoming them, I am just not in a position to do that.  The lowest cost male neuter for cats in my area is $30, and spaying for females is about $70.  I am definitely going to have Millie, the mama cat, spayed as soon as the babies are rehomed.

I don't want to give up a kitten to someone who is going to mistreat it.  A few years back I took in an abandoned kitten, maybe 6 months old.  Under pressure from the landlady I gave her away to a family, but I don't really know what became of her.  I kind of suspect they may have had fighting dogs.  She had become friends with one of the other cats too.  Makes me sick to think that people would use helpless kittens for fighting dog bait or for snake food.

Yes, I'd kind of like it if people would pay me money for the kittens, in order to help get Millie spayed and vaccinated.  However, I'm also aware of the economics of the situation too; and that is, that unless one has purebred kittens, most people are going to shy away from paying very much for a domestic mixed-breed kitten.  I have paid up to about $50 for two cats which I got from either a rescue or one from a pet store as a kitten.

One way to ensure the kittens are spayed/neutered without actually charging anything is to drop the kitten off at the spay/neuter clinic, then the new owners pick them up and pay the bill. That way they don't feel like they're being charged for the kitten, but they also aren't getting a free kitten.

The kittens are now right about 5 months old.  The 2 boys were rehomed.  I still ned to get the mama cat spayed, and then the 2 girls spayed at some point.

Have you looked for low cost spaying? Leaving the mother unspayed especially isn't good for her health, she's at risk of Pyometra which can be deadly if not caught early, and the kittens are best off being done before their first heat cycle.

Yes, I have checked into the cost of low-cost spaying and neutering.  My boss is offering bonuses right now because we are loaded with work which needs to get done (I do medical transcription from my home office, and although I was socked with a pay cut a few years back, this is still my best-paying job skill and I'm sticking with it).  The mama cat is doing well; she's still tiny and herself is just maybe a year old or maybe a little more.

I do not wish to sound disrespectful, but money is tight.  We live in the high desert above Los Angeles, California, and saving money is difficult.  We badly wnt to move out of here and go to Northern Arizona (Kingman area), but it will take as long as it takes.  In the meantime, I am feeding the cats as well as I can afford to,

I will try to get Millie spayed within another month or two.  The kittens, now 5 months old, can wait a little longer to be spayed.  They have not come into heat yet, as far as I can tell.  And although Millie is a very good mama, I am not eager to let her have another litter, so I am not going to let her out to wander.  The lowest cost female cat spay I've found nearby is $70.00, with the same vet where I took a pair of young adult brother cats to be neutered this summer.

I am going to try to get all my crew rabies shots before we move (I have 6 furbabies now).  sheesh.  Maybe I can win a lottery prize or something.  Once we get out of here, we can enjoy a lower cost of living in Kingman.

Sorry, but my budget is tight and I'm doing the best I can.  We humans are eating mostly chicken ourselves.  We eat whatever meat is on sale.  I read the food ads religiously every week hen they arrive.

Happy New Year to everybody!
