I've been researching a wet canned food for my multiple cats. I want to find something that I can feed my 5 month old kittens, older cats, and a cat with urinary crystal problems. Felidae seems to accomplish all of their needs. It is for all life stages, comes in a 13 oz. can, and has a special ph balanced formula to prevent urinary crystals. What do you all think? I'm trying to minimize the amount of different foods I feed them. Would make my life much easier!

There's really no such thing as one perfect food, unfortunately. It isn't good for any living being to eat one thing all the time. Plus, if they eat only one kind of food for years and years, and suddenly it gets recalled or discontinued, it would be very difficult to get them to eat anything else. IMO, it's best to provide at least 5 or 6 different brands/flavors. But 3 or 4 would certainly be OK.

Almost all canned foods are appropriate for all life stages, and the water is the most important thing for cats with urinary issues. If you need more suggestions for which foods come in 13-oz cans and are about the same price, just ask!

Yes, any suggestions would be great. I would like to buy the bigger cans if possible.

Haha, I have a lot of cats so I only buy the larger cans. I don't know what foods are available to you locally, but I buy online so I'll link to those. These are the ones I know of that are similar to Felidae in cost and quality.

California Natural: http://www.doggiefood.com/california-natural-chicken-brown-rice-canned-cat-and-kitten-food-13oz.html

EVO: http://www.doggiefood.com/evo-95-chicken-turkey-canned-cat-kitten-food-13oz.html

Azmira: http://www.doggiefood.com/azmira-beef-chicken-canned-cat-food13oz.html

Innova: http://www.doggiefood.com/innova-cat-kitten-canned-cat-food-13oz.html

Wellness: http://www.doggiefood.com/wellness-canned-cat-chicken125oz.html

Some of those have different flavors, I just picked one to link to. That website doesn't have Felidae yet, but www.petfooddirect.com does.

Switching brands and flavors is always a good idea for cats. It minimizes the risk of the cats developing food allergies/sensitivities :)

Also I would avoid those pH balanced canned foods. For one thing, ingredients should be the most important! If your cats are on a 100% meat based diet, their urine will naturally be low in pH (so more acidic) which means they will not develop any crystals as long as you are feeding them only wet or raw.

While I don't have any suggestions for the large 13oz cans; I will throw my
in with everyone else on varying their diet.  My cats get Nutro Max Cat kibble at 10% of their daily diet.  It is the only kibble they will eat and that is the kibble I buy.  I also feed Nutro Max Cat wet food and Nutro Natural Choice wet food.  My cats love all of the varieties of the brand.  I am a Nutro employee and I still mix up their wet diet with different premium brands for varieties in flavor and texture.  I'm not going to waste any more time and money trying different kibbles.  I've done enough of that and at 10% of their diet I'm not too concerned about it at this point.

We feed evo. Its all life stages, our kitten is only 12 weeks. To me its great quality and comes in a variety of flavors so its great for picky eaters. As for urinary crystals im not certain though im sure, as said, a good amount of water intake would be beneficial for that issue and canned food has water in it as well. Try researching evo canned for that topic maybe?

Thanks everyone! We went out this weekend and bought about 4 different brands and a bunch of varieties of cat/kitten food (Wellness, Weurva, EVO, and another one I can't remember?). So far they have loved them all! I appreciate everyone's input.

Only thing I'm kind of getting mixed messages about is the cat with crystals. I've talked with two vets and they both seem to suggest that I should keep her on the cat food specifically for urinary crystals. I guess I will continue to do this, although it would be nice to switch up her food more often. She's had 2 urinary tract infections before we figured out this problem and just a few crystals in her urine. I'm scared that if I take her off of Purina UR food that it will make her sick again. Not sure if the vets are right...

What was she eating when she got the infections in the first place?

If you are feeding the UR canned, I wouldn't worry too much, at least it is canned. Once or twice a week, for now, give her a little of the other foods, just to keep her changed up a bit. As time passes, you might try adding a little more of the commercial foods, to see how she does.

I think I will try that. I'm not sure what she was on before that. We have kind of a mixed family of cats (my husband's cat, my cats, and some rescued kittens). We all moved into the same home together last year. It's kind of hard to monitor the cat's bathroom behavior in a house with multiple cats. The only way we knew she was having a problem before is when she started urinating on random things around the house. I'll try to slowly add a mixture of cat food to her diet and see how she reacts. I have a feeling she'd be fine. There were very few crystals in her urine when we brought her to the vet and it was combined with a urinary tract infection. Wish me luck!
