My sister says that in the /Black And White cats only the males are called Tuxedos and the females are just called Black And White. Is this really true?

Hmm, does your sis have a source for that info?

Wikipedia says nothing of the sort, and a quick search on Google turns up nothing. I'm no expert on coat pattern names butI can't imagine it's true... I mean it's the same coat pattern, not like calico where the exact coat type only appears in one gender. We always called Tohey a tuxedo and she's female. :)

Well, since it's kind of a made-up term, I guess we can make it mean anything we want :tongue2:.
:lol3: I think males and females are tuxedos because it is just a made up description to describe their color and markings. Even though girls don't wear tuxedos!!! :lol3:

They're all black & white bi-colours, people just nickname them Tuxedo since it often appears they are wearing one - in both sexes.

My sister says that the woman who handled the adoption told her this.

Most tortie and whites (or Calico's in the US) are female, but there are lots of males around too, and not all sterile as some literature suggests, I know several working tortie stud boys.
