In your opinion, what is the absolute best cat wet food? I just thought it would be neat to hear everyone's thoughts about their favorite cat food brand in general. :D

There are so many brands out there now that are of good quality.  My favorite is Nutro.  And before anyone starts in about my affiliation with Nutro I would like to say they have been around 83 years.  My parents used Nutro when I was an infant and growing up.  I've used the brand my entire life to date.  We have always had excellent results from all of the Nutro products throughout the years.  I've worked for Nutro for 5 years... just to put my posts into perspective
So far there have been no physical issues or dental issues resulting from their diet.  The dog I had before the two I have now lived until the age of 19 and she was a Border Collie!  I attribute much of her good health and longevity to her diet. None of my cats have had any diet related issues and the oldest is 15.

My cats have done well on Nutro Max Cat kibble and Nutro MAX CAT wet and Nutro Natural Choice wet.  I also mix up other premium brands of wet to give them additional flavors and textures.  My cats are now at a 90% wet ratio to a 10% kibble ration.  I've tried to give them other kibble but they refuse it

Oops!!!! I just noticed in the thread title I wrote "ood" instead of "food". :lol3: Mondays are great, aren't they? ;)

I like Nutro, it is a good brand. Honestly, I would have bought it more often for my cats if it was sold at my local pet store. I have to drive 75 minutes on the highway to get to Petsmart and that is the only place I really know of that sells Nutro, sadly!

My favorites are Weruva and NV. I like that Weruva is a smaller company and most of their ingredients are pretty great. And well...NV raw has been so good for my kitties. :D

If I really must get a canned food, then weruva, as it uses human grade ingredients. Aside from that, I just have no trust in the pet industry in general.... I do like commercial raw, but then, that's not really canned....

Matt loves Wellness....he acts like it's ice cream, so i only get it rarely lol.. I also like GO!, California Natural and EVO. Wholesome blend has a good easy to digest kibble, which was what we settled on after everything else gave tummy trouble and parasite were ruled out..but it sticks to his teeth, and is fairly high fat so now I'm looking at other options. I am impressed with Hollistic Blend grain-free...it's high protein low carb and lower fat. I think i'll be switching, since he's tolerating the samples they sent me. he only gets about 1/4 cup a  day kibble now anyway.

As you can see i have tried many brands....the ones i mentioned are the ones the cat and i approve of

My favorites have been Weruva and Nature's Variety when they were on wet. To keep things affordable, I thought Merrick's line was pretty good too.

I am also a fan of Weruva. Evo is another one that I would highly recommend. Along with Instinct! Very pricey canned foods though. If you have many cats then the costs to feed all canned of these varieties is quite expensive. ;)

My cat LOVES Weruva (he only gets the chicken and duck flavors though, not the fish flavors). He pretty much inhales it whenever he gets it.

That being said, one can is not enough for him a day (Weruva has almost half the calories of other brands and I have a young active 13 month old cat) so the days that I feed Weruva (I rotate food between 4-5 brands), I usually give him part of can of another brand as well or else give him some raw for some extra calories.

Right now I'm looking for the Merrick line because I have heard a lot of good about it. I really like Wellness (my cat eats it very easily) and Evo (my cat isn't a huge fan but if I cajole him enough he will eat it).

The other brands I like (and that Magnus likes)

WERUVA (chicken soup, chunky chicken, paw lickin' chicken flavors) These are his favorites

Wellness CORE

Earthborn Holistic Chicken Catcciatori (another one of Magnus' faves, I just found this one recently)

Blue Buffalo Wildnerness or Freedom formulas (thought this past week he's been a bit picky about Blue Buffalo, so don't know if he's going off of it or not... but he's always eaten it and liked it before)

Taste of the Wild (too much fish, but he gets this as a treat)

and then usually one more can of either EVO or Before Grain or some other grain free wet food that the store happens to carry

Trader Joes wet food (chicken or turkey flavors only) - this is not grain free as it does have rice in it but it's pretty good otherwise with lots of good meat as the first few ingredients, and inexpensive, so I used this to rotate with some of the more expensive wet food brands to keep costs down)

he also gets some raw a few times a week, plus a little bit of sardines (in water, no salt) for his fur.

I've tried the premade raw from Nature's Variety but he refuses to eat them. He likes raw food boneless and in meat chunk form (though I do give him a chicken wing once a week or so for his teeth. He wines as he's too lazy to eat the bone but if he sees no boneless food coming, he'll chomp down on the chicken wings and eat them up ( I do chop them in half for him). He just prefers the boneless meats better).

Im a fan of the chicken and chick/liver Weruva flavors. That's their primary food and I'm just happy they are eating it consistently. They still get some FFC but I'm trying to phase that out. They also like the Wellness pouches (but not the cans). They get a can of BFF once a week which they don't love. I'd love to add another brand but there aren't many I can find around here that are sold individually and I don't want to buy a whole case online. Sigh, so they will probably stay on Weruva and FFC.

I use Wellness, Evo, and Innova with my two nearly eight-year-old cats and 11-week old kitten. They are doing great on these foods. However, they are expensive. But I want them to have human-grade food...they are my fur babies. I've heard good things about Nature's Variety Instinct and would like to try it in the future. There isn't a perfect food out there, I'm guessing...

What are the key differences between the Wellness Core canned and the Wellness non-core varieties that are also grain free?

Are there any really good foods that don't contain carrageenan, that are also good for a kitten?

l feed almost everything named above:

Weruva, Wellness Core, Wellness GF, Innova c&k (has rice), EVO c&k, Go! GF, Blue Wilderness, (and Boldraw raw).

All of these canned foods except for Weruva contains carrageenan, and Weruva is too low in fat and calories to feed a kitten longterm.

l give them the Tiki Cat too, but they're not fans, lol.

Same with NVI chicken (not lamb).

My store just started carrying Nature's Variety Instinct canned food and I tried them out on Magnus and he seems to like them so far.

Favorite is still Weruva but as others have said it's too low in calories and fat for me to use solely as Magnus is still young / active. Plus I think it's good to rotate brands and flavors.

Mine love the Nature's Variety Instinct lamb, and Natural Balance venison and green pea.  They also like the Nature's Variety Instinct Raw--so far only tried the beef flavor, I was skeptical because one of them can be a little picky, but he gobbles it up!  Not cheap, but it really does help cost-wise to buy cases of the ones you know they like, and buy the bigger cans if they'll eat it after its been in the fridge

I don't know if you'll be back to the thread or the site, but the only human-grade cat food is made by Weruva OR most commercial raw foods. This thread is about canned/pouch foods, so Weruva is the only human-grade option.

When I first posted, I forgot to mention I also feed my cats Halo's Spot's Stew canned food. Again, it's expensive. But being human-grade, it's worth the cost for sure...

Halo is one of the foods l've never tried, l haven't found one (canned) that doesn't have carrageenan or something species-inappropriate, like alfalfa meal.

l don't see their website saying human-grade either, maybe l'm not seeing it (l'm old
 )

The only other USDA certified for human consumption canned food that l'm aware of is Tiki Cat. And unfortunately they only have 2 chicken flavours - the rest are fish.
