Weight gain after a sickness

My Siamese cat suffered from a large abscess on his stomach area. For a few weeks he was very sick and hardly moved around. Now that the abscess has cleared he hasn't stopped eating. He has put on a significant amount of weight over the last few weeks, especially for a Siamese who are quite thin. Should I be worried?

I am not a good one to speak here probably because I have dealing with a cat who had surgery and then wouldn't eat.  So eating and gaining weight would look good to me.  But seriously, if your cat hasn't seen the vet, maybe a trip would be in order.  It might not be good for your cat to gain too much weight.  I am glad the abcess is healed and hope your cat will be fine

Was he thin before the surgery? If he is only making up weight that he lost, that is fine.
Otherwise, the solution would be to A. get him to a vet and then B. only give him a set amount of food each day :nod:
