Tomorrow we take more kitties to the APL to get fixed. So far we have 1 who we named Lucy.

She's Cheeto, Pip, and Mica's mommy and is about a year old. Her eyes are a very stunning green color (Cheeto has very bright blue eyes so we're saying she got the vibrant eyes from mommy here
Lucy's one ear is injured (left ear) but she's still a beautiful diluted torbie

You can see some of her markings and the scabby ear

So to reset the trap and since she wasn't trying to kill us and acting very calm we went to transfer her into the carrier. This is what we got for a good 10 minutes before opening the trap and flipping it to do this on the other end of the trap for 5 more minutes! We got to poke the kitty feet though!

Mother and son. She's actually a big cat, it just doesn't look like it in this picture.

And more of her pretty markings.

If we can tame her, my mom wants to keep her since we can't keep Jewel anymore. Jewel passed away on 9/11 (our kitty Crystal's 12th birthday) between 8-9am. She was climbing, playing, tried to bite my mom during her bath, and eating. The only thing odd was she started getting little wobbly spells for a few minutes a couple days before but seemed normal other than that. I fell asleep cuddling her to keep her warm while she dried off and when I woke up and went to feed her, she was stiff as a board and gone. At least she died loved, warm, well fed, and cuddled up to her mommy. This has been our hardest loss since she was doing so good and didn't appear sick like the other 3. She's buried with her siblings and we all miss her so much and miss that little gray beast following us into the kitchen and climbing the couch to sit with us.

RIP Jewel

Hopefully we catch at least 1 more cat tonight.

Hi -- I see you are from Cleveland too!  I used the APL to TNR our small family of ferals five years ago.  We will be visiting again soon to drop off a stray injured cat who's been coming around as soon as we can coordinate trapping it.  I think the APL is wonderful -- they've always been there for us!  Your kitties are soooo cute.  And so sorry for your loss of Jewel.   Have a good day!

They have a grant right now and can do fixings for $10 a cat until it runs out! The other 2 ferals we got fixed are doing great, but the little kitten we took there still hasn't been himself (we think them giving him flea meds, nuetering, and shots was too much at once for him and he hasn't seemed like a playful kitten ever since) he lost about half his weight after too but he's gaining again and pigging out on canned food (he also LOVES chicken so he's been spoiled into eating a ton)

Didn't catch any more cats (caught an invisible one though! We released that one so we could set the trap for a more visible one though
) so Lucy's the only one getting fixed today. Have a cage set up for her to recover in for a couple days hen blocking off the basement and back rooms so she can venture in the living room and kitchen. She has more potential than Heather did and those pictures do not do her eyes justice!

When we dropped her off the guy asked if she was friendly and when he put his finger in the cage she came up to him to sniff him! She's also the one who came to sit 5 feet away from me while I was taking pictures and touching her week old babies (who are all doing quite well now, 2 of whom are in the furever homes and poor Mica who nobody's claimed yet) Getting her back around 4. She's going to get a convenia (antibiotic) shot for her ear  too so that should help that out.

Wow --you have a lot going on!  Our feral family is 5 years old.  A new stray/feral recently tried to join our group.  We allowed it, fed it and he turned out to be very mean, constantly picking fights.  Two of our males have bites and one's tail is just limp & hanging.  From what I've read on-line, the tail may be dislocated and can heal on its own
.  So ... the recent stray/feral has to go.  It's causing way too much turmoil, and has taken over our feral's outdoor heated house so that they no longer use it.  With winter coming, this has to change.  So we're hoping for the best for the mean cat, but I can't think of anything else to do with it. The lady I spoke to in Admissions said that this could just be a very frightened stray. If it can be adopted, the APL will make sure it is.  Our indoor guys have fleas now too!

We just got her back from the apl. She has an ear infection and was pregnant with 4 kittens

She had no signs of being pregnant so couldn't have been too far along, and having her other group being only 12 weeks now it wouldn't have been good for her to have had the babies that close ogether, but you can't help but feel bad. Sorry Lucy
