I haven't seen it, because I assumed it was going to be really hokey and not scary at all. Now you've got me intrigued...

Most of the standard horror stuff doesn't scare me (too over the top). However, when I saw the 6th sense for the first time, it actually made me scared of the dark again! The scariest movie I've EVER seen is the Exorcist. I think because I'm religious it seems like it could happen.

I agree with you...the Exorcist was the scariest movie I have seen, simply because I too am religious and believe in demon possesion. (sp??) so it really freaked me out.

This movie was a bit hokey as you put it....but it still was just enough creepy and "could happen" to scare me! It has eliments of torture and just totally wierd crap in it....the stuff the main character went through would have been enough to make ANY person totally lose their mind. *shudder*

To sum it up, it's kind of like "Deliverance" meets "The Texas Chainsaw Masacre" Only far creepier...making them "squeal like a pig" would have been the nicest thing they could have done to them!
(There weren't any actual "chainsaws" in this movie... they used other means to slash and hack people, but for some reason it still reminded me of that movie a bit)

I thought noone would ever bring up the subject of this movie!!! My Fiancee(Lyle) looooves Rob Zombie...I think he can sing like him and looks like him...it's kinda creepy at times, but everyone has a look-alike.
ANYWAY....The Movie was Directed by Rob Zombie. A Creation by his own morbid imagination. First off keep in mind this movie's rating is:
There is no sex, but ALOT of female nudity and gore. Most of the females are dead, slashed up and bloody. This movie has alot of scary images and gruesome murders. This movie is NOT, I repeat IS NOT FOR CHILDREN(or the already insane). The language is baaad. I hate GD and it is full of it. That is where the complaints end. Lyle took me to see this in the theatre. The movie is well cast, well directed and the effects/set props/scenery are great. He intended the movie to be reminisant of a old 70's movie and it is. The movie got me interested in Rob Zombie and now he has yet another fan..lol...or maybe another zombie?

Synopsis: In "House of 1000 Corpses", two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await.
Go to http://www.houseof1000corpses.com for more movie info

This movie is not like any other horror movie. If you like horror movies, rent House of 1000 Corpses. Trust me you'll like it...if you're not scared!

Neat Fact:
-The blond psycho in the family "Baby" (played by Sheri Moon) is actually Rob Zombie's Girlfriend. She's also been in the following Rob Zombie Videos: Dragula, Living Dead Girl and More Human Than Human.

I've never been someone who can stomach gore in movies. I can't even handle it, when they show someone throwing up. Although, I can handle the throwing up in The Exhorcist, probably because it doesn't look real to me, and probably because they don't have the gagging noises.

Me, I'm a light hearted comedy fan. I don't care for violence, graphic gore or anything that will and can turn a person's stomach.

If I want action, just give me, Jackie Chan. No Rob Zombie for me.

I really like scary movies. I picked this one up last weekend and was very disapointed. It was way too similar to texas chainsaw massacre and not as well done IMO. I don't have anything against Rob Zombie, I like horror movies, and really wanted to like it. I was very let down for me. It felt like a mediocre rehash of TCM.

I don't like gore, and zombie movies terrify me. I can't watch Night of the Living Dead, it gives me the creeps! Dan, my s/o, loves that movie, and wishes I would watch it again with him. I can't do it.

I saw Rob Zombie on an interview, and he seemed like such a cool guy, really down to earth.

I am so glad you also made that comparison (to Texas Chainsaw Massacre)...although I do disagree with you on the movie...(creepy as it was I still really liked it and thought it was worth watching)....I had told my hubby that I had compared this movie here to Deliverance meets the Texas chainsaw masacre....and he looked at me like I was nuts.... and said, "There weren't any chainsaws in this movie...what a dumb thing to say".....so then I was afraid you would all think I was an idiot, so I edited my post to include that there weren't any actual chainsaws in the movie, but it still reminded me of that!!!!!
I don't feel so stupid now knowing it reminded you of that movie as well!!!!

I dont really think Rob Zombie's movie compares totally to any one movie. It has similarities because it is a horror movie. There's not really much left that hasnt been done. What needs to be looked at in that movie is the artistry.

Sorry, but I think the Exorsist(SP?) was funny. When I saw it, it was at a time where I was terrified of all horror movies. Then Lyle(a horror freak) got me to watch them. I really enjoy watching them now. To me a horror movie is like a scary roller-coaster where you never know what will happen next. Basically it's a ride! The only scary think now is the 'jump reflex'.

All I can say to those scared is what helped me stop being so scared of watching them:
Never in the dark untill you're used to them!
Never go alone!
Remember it's only a movie!
Also it helps to watch the DVD's that show how the effects and movie was made. It kinda helps reinforce the 'it's not real factor' to your mind.

I'm doing ok other than having a VERY annoying stomache virus since Friday
I've been pissed at my stomache...lol.
How are you?
How late was it? The lastest I've gone was around 10 or 11pm.
I definately couldnt go to a scary movie alone that late at night. Walking back to my truck alone in an empty parking lot would not be fun...
