DH and I ordered one of the new Kindle Fire HDs for my birthday present. They don't really release until Friday...  But I've checked the status of my order multiple times now just to see if maybe they shipped to be delivered in 2 days like the IPhone does sometimes.  No luck.

I want my new toy!!

I just ordered my Wacom Bamboo Create from Staples... they didn't have it at the store. It's expected to arrive next Tuesday. :( I feel your pain!

But I am super excited about this!! I've been wanting it for months!

I hope you enjoy your new Kindle!

No wonder you're excited! Maybe it'll be shipped tonight. When I pre-ordered the international Kindle, it was shipped the day before it was supposed to be released in Europe, and took about 20 hours to get from the U.S. to Germany. There's a chance you'll actually get yours tomorrow.

So far; no luck.  I just checked.  I am so sad.

The bright side is that I do live fairly close to one of their warehouses; so maybe that will help!  It would be nice though...I'd consider it my birthday present from Amazon since I do give them a good bit of business!  (I already own a regular kindle and LOVE it!!)

You'll have to tell us how you like it.  The Kindle Fire has not been the success Amazon was hoping for, that much is sure, but I'm wondering if they've dealt with some of the mistakes on the Fire.  It had an unbelievable return rate at first.

But the Kindles have been very good machines, over time.

Yeah; I asked for suggestions on another forum where I know a lot of people talked about posting from their tablets and a lot suggested the Kindle Fire; at least for what I want it to do.  They have upgraded the memory, added a cam and things like that.  My MIL would really love to video chat with us so she can see the kids.  It sounds like they've made some good changes.  I'll deffinitely give my opinion in a few weeks.  The shipping status says "Shipping Soon" now...

Hmmm...my dh ordered one too, but I thought he said it wasn't being released or shipped until November?  I'd best suggest he check the order status :)

Enjoy - dh is quite excited about it's features etc, and has been waiting for this next generation of Kindle Fire, to order one.

So long? What happened to their overnight delivery by FedEx?
Yeah I know...  I guess I've joined the "instant gratification" generation. LOL

It's coming Fedex Smartpost.  If it's like what I'm thinking of with UPS it basically gets delivered to my local post office by fedex and then they do the delivering.  The thing is; i see that it arrive in my town this morning; but the shipping estimate is still Thursday!  I'm thinking if I dont get it tomorrow I should by Wednesday.  I should have paid for faster shipping!  But because we live close enough to one of their hubs it hasn't been worth the $$ in the past.  I just never know which hub what I ordered is coming from.

They have different ones coming out this year.  I got the Kindle Fire HD 7".  They have another version of this one with more memory coming out in October.  And then in November is the larger ones.  I think it's a 9" screen or something like that.  I wanted it to still be small enough to fit in my purse.  I bring my regular kindle to doctor appointments and things.  Plus less waiting...you see how much trouble I've had waiting for just this one.

So far I'm having fun!  It made it very easy to get to the books I already have on my regular kindle and its all synced automatically with it too.  The web browser seems good so far.  I haven't tried TCS on it yet.  I'm excited to try skype on it with my MIL so she can see the kids.  She was having grandma withdrawls the other day.

So how is it working?

I see that Walmart has said they won't sell the Kindle products anymore.  Something about competition, but I didn't get the full gist of it.

If I find I have to spend more time on the road, I think I'll find a 10 inch tablet.  I want to be able to use a bluetooth keyboard, etc.

From what the analysts are saying, Amazon is working on a small profit margin on them, and couldn't offer deep discounts to WalMart.

Well, Walmart didn't discount them.  The only advantage to buying them there was that you could walk out with them.

I heard that the problem was that when you surfed to the Walmart website to buy anything, Amazon's search program always put up ads for the same thing there, usually at a lower prices.
