Probably because people didn't know what the post was about, popped in to see, but have no idea on whether it's OK or not. You'll notice MOST threads have a LOT more views than replies.

As to your question - I know I don't know if it's OK for cats or not. :lol3: If ginger is OK for cats, then lightly sauteed chicken with some ginger is probably fine. :dk: There has been some discussion in the health forum on various oils - some swear by olive oil, others say it shouldn't be fed to cats. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/248167/butter-for-hairballs

I know that I prefer not to use plant-based stuff for my kitties as they are obligate carnivores. But if they have a particular condition that can benefit from some herbs or plant-based supplements, I've used them. I work with a holistic vet, and she prescribes Chinese herbal meds for some conditions. I know there are many health benefits for people with ginger, and I'm pretty sure it's used in a lot of Chinese herbal formulas (but don't KNOW that). I'd just make sure it IS safe for cats - many things aren't. Garlic also has many health benefits but should never be fed to a cat.

Hm, I'm not too sure about ginger. I did have candied ginger laying around that the kitties got into (accidentally left the top loose, and Cuddles got it open) and she was fine. :) I'm sure as long as it wasn't too much ginger it should be ok. :D

Happened to be searching for herbs for cats and came across your question.  I'm sure that the dish in question is long gone, but for future reference:

All the best,

Welcome to TCS. The thread you posted to had been dormant for a year. However, thank you for the link. Another good one is www.catinfo.org

I invite you to introduce yourself and your cats in the New Cats on the Block board. Be sure to include some pictures of your furkids.
