Well been posting on here a bit today (day off).
Except for the miserable year or two I was married I have had cats all my life. I currently work and volunteer at our local animal shelter. I get to see the good and bad of things / .
Yesterday I lost my 13/14 year old tom cat to a stroke . My 13 year old female is doing well despite the fleas I brought home.
You can never replace a lost critter but now know my Em needs a buddy for when I am at work. I saved Cow Meow Meow before he entered the shelter system. Got a call asking if I would take him before he was put in the system. My Em was a two time looser, adopted and returned to a shelter when I was living in another state.
Working in a shelter I see how everyone wants a kitten/puppy or some young dog/cat. A lot of the older guys or ones who have problems spend years in a shelter At least with Cow's passing I started thinking of the cats that no one wants. Might be a nice way to honor his memory by taking in a "cripple cat", or a senior cat who would spend a few more years (and possibly the rest of their lives) in a shelter.
It was only yesterday he passed but I turn around and I can still see him laying in some of his old spots. Missed him trying to mooch when I was making coffee this morning.
