My kitten count is up to... uh... well let's see. I have my one little black (I actually think he's a 'smoke' colored) bottle baby from the litter of 4 (the other three didn't make it). I have the four younger 6 weekish old kittens. Three about 12 week kittens. And now I have 3 what I am going to say is 1-3 day old kittens. The last three scare me :/ they are sooooooo tiny, much tinier than any other kitten i've bottlefed yet. I'm scared to lose them, but know I am doing everything I can for them. The one part of rescue I need to learn to cope with, dealing with losses and yet focusing on the positives. When I lost the last three bottle babies, it was really hard on me. My boyfriend asked me why I do it, he could see how much my heart was breaking doing everything I could for them and still losing them. I just told him it's worth it to see the ones who do make it happy and healthy in their new homes. So I will continue! Then Crimson, and I actually just got Uno back from the family who adopted him. Irresponsible people I don't understand why someone sits there and says "Yes, I understand cats live that long. Yes we will keep them their entire lives. Yes we will get them their shots and neutered" and then contact me 3 months later asking me to take him back because they're moving into a place that doesn't allow pets. No shots. Still intact. It's so frustrating. So... 13 kittens.

Will post new pictures of ALL of my kittens soon :-) The 7 from Nancy's house are already looking a million times better. And the three teenies I just got are precious. Two blue (darker one looks tabby, the lighter blue looks solid), and one dilute calico. All three have INTENSE fever coats.

You sound a lot like me. I just got a return of a kitten after a month because they decided they just didn't want a kitten after all. He comes back with horrible eye infections that they never treated and I had to be squeezed in at the vet. I just took in some bottle babies too but mine are 10-14 days. So if you need any middle of the night help with your babies I am sure I will be up or up shortly afterwards lol.

The woman is very grateful. She actually began crying and telling me how worried she has been since she found out she has to leave her residence. She doesn't want to leave ANY kittens behind. She told me I was her guardian angel sent to help her. Broke my heart and made it melt all at once. This is the reason why I continue to rescue (other than saving the fur babies lives... her gratitude was so sweet and just made me so sad that she's tried so hard to help all of these kitties and now feels so helpless.)
:heart3: I think that sums it up really well - Guardian Angel. I think this is so very heartwarming to all of us reading about your efforts to help this lady. :hugs:

The kitten's and cat's are all so beautiful. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: that they all find loving homes :cross:

Lost another one of the tinys last night :( I could tell she was going downhill... but there's only so much you can do to get them to eat and keep them warm. I always feel so helpless. I have high hopes for the last little man though, he is the loudest, biggest, and strongest. He actually suckles instead of me having to squirt some in his cheeks.

In other news...

Found a home for Thelma :) She leaves tomorrow to her new place!

It does hurt my heart very much
But I know I did everything I could for them, and it seems to get easier to deal with the losses with time because you see how much good you've done with all of the others you've rescued. So I am doing OK.

Dali is doing great
her head is completely healed AND some hair is growing back, it just looks like there will be one small line of baldness where the scarring was the deepest.

Im sorry about the baby. Loosing them is the one part of rescuing I hate and will never get used to. :vibes: I'm hoping your last baby gets stronger and makes it.

I'm so glad you are having successes finding the adults homes.

That's awesome that Dali's hair is growing back.

Absolutely the TRUTH!!! YES, the good you are doing for the others does help heal the pain of losing. :heart3: Still hard, but you are doing SO GOOD!!! :D :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: OH I am SO happy about Dali's head healing up well enough and even has some hair growing back! Some happiness and good news helps so much. ;) :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for all of the kitties. :rub:

Sadly I lost the last of the tinies at about 1.30 pm today. They just were so small and weak.
At least I kept them warm, gave them full tummies, and lots of kisses the entire time.

All of the other babes are doing great! They're getting so big, but one thing is they are aggressive towards each other with wet food. Anyone know how to curve that behavior?

:eek:hno: SO SORRY..... but you do have a good attitude about the losses. They had names, they were loved and cuddled, and had everything they needed. Life was just not in the cards for them and you were their stepping stone to a peaceful trip to the bridge. :rbheart3: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

The only thing I could suggest would be to spread apart all of the feeding areas. They will each have their "own" spot for eating. They will learn quickly and run to their spots and won't be so likely to fight over the wet food. :cross: At least these are VERY robust and healthy. :bigthumb:

I've had a really busy... and horrible past week or so. Lost the three tinies. Took Tipper in to the vet and he possibly has lymphoma/lymphosarcoma (thread in Health forum). And I lost Michaelangelo :( I don't even know what happened!!! Thursday I went in my rescue room in the morning like always to give them their morning wet food, etc. All came running but Michaelangelo. I found him stumbling trying to walk with a mass of diarrhea stuck to his hiney. So I cleaned him up (his anus had been like.. stretched from it being stuck on his butt overnight i'm assuming) Gave him some neosporin. And babied him the ENTIRE DAY. He was in my arms, got fed formula (they haven't had any since they've been with me) and a whole can of wet food to himself to eat whenever he wanted. He was up and running about two hours after I found him in that state and nursed him. His anus started to look normal too, so I was very happy thinking he'd be just fine. Put him to bed for the night in the room with everyone, he was running around playing with them. Had food and water available all night. Woke up about 10 hours later and checked on them- he was dead. So sad. I really don't think I can handle losing another baby right now. All of the other ones seem fine- but i've been giving them formula just to be sure.

OMG how much can one person, a loving kitty rescuer, take. :bawling: Hun, seriously, my heart is breaking for you. This is just too much all at once. Please hang in there. My goodness, no one could be doing any better and all of these babies knew love by your hand. :heart3: And mega vibes for Tipper :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

RIP baby :rbheart: Michealangelo. Play peacefully little one. with the tinies :rbheart: :rbheart: :rbheart:

All of the other babies are doing great. Monet already left to her new home. Picasso is spoken for, but just waiting to get over the last little bit of her kitty cold. Matisse is completely cleared up and ready to go to a new home!

Dali is doing GREAT! Her head looks amazing, like normal just with shorter fur on one half of her head. She's definitely the most friendly of the three older ones, she no longer hides from me, and even allows me to approach her and pet her. She's still a little hesitant at first, but once I have her she purrs and purrrs and loves it so much. One thing I have noticed about her is her pupils seem almost always fully dilated. I'm wondering if the wound to her head maybe did do some damage? She acts perfectly fine.. sees perfectly fine. Her pupils are just HUGE in comparison to her brothers.

Speaking of her brothers- little stinkers. Still hiding from me, the biggest male will just kinda sit there glaring at me like "Ugh really, leave me alone" but doesnt react when I pick him up and hold him. I'm sure he'll be the next to be my lap kitty after his sister. Then there's the little guy. Little SPUNKY man.. still hissing and spitting and biting at me when i'm anywhere near. Poor babe. I know he'll come around.

In OTHER NEWS, Irene and Falcor are back in my care after only being in their new home three weeks. "Our neighbors told on us and now we have to get rid of them or move." I couldn't hold back anymore "WHY DID YOU GET THEM IF YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANIMALS, WE TALKED OVER THIS. ABOUT RESPONSIBILITY, THESE ARE LIVES- NOT TOYS THAT CAN BE SHUFFLED AROUND CONSTANTLY. VERY IRRESPONSIBLE OF YOU!!!" etc etc. Felt like a mom scolding her children.. but REALLY. How irresponsible. And I really thought they were going to a good home!!!! UGH.

Haha, enough of my rant. They are back at my house and in great care. They're great kitties and hopefully I should be able to place them SOON!!

Still no interest in Crimson or Uno (my 5-6 month old rescues)... I have a feeling they're going to end up being permanent. I really hope not- because I would love for them to go to a home that will treat them amazingly. But if that can't happen- I know staying here with me is what will happen.

Glad to here the babies are doing well. Have patients the right home will come along for your older kittens. It takes longer but the people who are willing to take in a cat or older kitten are typically really good homes because they don't want them for the novelty of having a tiny kitten.

Sadly even sometimes when we think they will be great homes they just are not. I was having this conversation with my vet after I had a kitten returned to me sick, he was actually the second one in a month. The people who adopted him returned him to me saying that their teen age daughter was not ready for the responsibility. Apparently neither were the parents. I told my vet how much it made me mad and that I really thought it was a good home, and she agreed with me but told me I have to give them the benefit of the doubt or I will never find the kittens homes. Very true, but still frustrating all the same.

Thank you, it helps talking with someone who has experienced the same frustrations. I just don't understand how people can just treat animals so much.. lower. Like we're so much better than they are. They are living, breathing just like us. Their lives mean no less.

Speaking of which... I saved two more babes today. Well, technically three. One of my local shelters posted an urgent plea for adopters for three beautiful 3.5 month old brothers who had been there since 1 month old. They were top of the euthanasia list, gave them only about a week left. I networked my butt off on facebook and one of my friends in San Francisco wanted to save Victor, but couldn't make it there during shelter hours. So I went and got him, she came and picked him up later that night. Four days later... and one week from the initial posting and Vance and Vincent are still there. I called and asked if I could foster them until they got adopted. "No, they've already been fostered once before." I don't see why that matters anyways.. when it comes to saving a life.

So frustrated and in tears I make a plea on FB asking people to help donate to raise the $130 to spring them both.

A few minutes later I got a call from my wonderful, beautiful mother. She told me she had the cash, and to come save 'em. She's so amazing.

So now those babies are SAAAAAFE!!!!!!!

You are doing an amazing job!  I love your attitude,  so positive!  I have had kittens all summer long,  I did lose one too,  and now I have 2 more and still 2 more to get.   I get so frustrated over not being able to find them homes.  Finding good forever homes is very rewarding but very difficult.  I love reading your progress.
