Do you believe in mental telepathy?

Thread Starter
I was discussing this with a friend yesterday. I had a totally weird experience last year. I had to have a hysterectomy August 2, 2002, and the operation took several hours because I also had adhesions. Anyway, I was "out" from about 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Central European Time. During the operation, I dreamed that my grandmother (dead for 20 years) and my father came to see me, and I asked my father if he was dead, seeing as he was with my grandmother, and got an affirmative reply. When I woke up (before reaching the recovery room - they forgot a shot), I freaked everybody out by saying that my father had just died. When my husband came to the hospital that afternoon, they told him about it, and he said that he'd just gotten a call from my mother: my father had died at 3 a.m. Central Time (10 a.m. Central European Time). Nobody informed me that he had gone into the hospital three days before because of my surgery. Is that mental telepathy, do you think? I'd never experienced that type of thing with my father, but I had with my grandmother, mother and brother. Has anybody else had such a strange experience?

Sometimes between family members there is such a bond, that things like this happen and there really is no explanation. Look at the documentation that has been done between identical twins.

On a somewhat different vein. Sometimes when I am in great distress and under a lot of stress I dream that my Mom is riding in the car next to me. I know she is dead and she cannot talk, but her presence gives me such a feeling of peace and I feel her love for me. I tell her everything that is going wrong and I feel so much better when I wake up. My mother was my sounding board and I when she was alive, I would tell her everything. She always had great advice and I felt no one loved me more than her. I think God gives my Mom back to me when I need her. I know that may sound silly, but I thought of it when you said that you saw your Grandmother.

Wow, your story gave me goosebumps! I believe that he was saying goodbye because how else were you able to do it?

I believe in that kind of thing. Always have.

I do believe, mostly because of experiences like yours that people share. I'm sorry about the loss of your father, but it is very special that he was able to communicate with you at his passing.

I totally believe in telepathy and many other types of wonders. Once the phone rang in our house and I told my mom it was my aunt Kathy, she had a boy and she named him Eric - he was 1 month early. I have had many such things like this. If you open yourself to wonders you never know what you might encounter.

Your story is lovely, in that your father made sure that you knew from him he was "ok" where he was.

I too believe we are all connected.
I have had only one experience, when my Son was just two ex hubby and I had gone to dinner and left our Son with my Mom, in the middle of dinner I just knew something had happened. It was a feeling so strong, we phoned Mom's house and our Son had fallen and split his lip open. It was not serious, but I have never forgotten that feeling.

While I myself don't have a story to tell, I do believe that yes, there are those links.

I believe that we are all connected.

Wow...what an experience. Did you feel comforted because your Grandmother appeared too? I definitely believe there can be a connection between loved ones of that type.

I believe that there are a number of things 'out' there, but we can't necessarily scientifically prove them.

I have heard many stories from family and friends about connecting with another at a certain time. One of my friends, when he was 17, woke up one evening to find his grandfather sitting at the foot of his bed. He 'knew' his grandfather wasn't even in the same country, so he thought he was dreaming. He woke up the next morning to be told that his grandfather died that night and my friend believes that he was visiting him one last time. I still get goosebumps on that one.

My mother has a special 'connection' with an old high school friend. When the phone rings, she 'knows' that it will be her calling and she's usually right 9 times out of 10.

Ten years ago, I woke up in the middle of the night because my knee was really hurting as if I injured it. I went back to sleep, and found out the next day that my boyfriend (now ex) was in a serious accident at work (he worked nightshift)where he got his knee pulled into some machinery and it tore it apart. I thought that was freaky.

I don't understand many things in this universe, but it doesn't make me not believe them either.
