Hi,
So my kitten woke me up at 5 am today. He jumped into my bed and started meowing. I tought he wanted to sleep but when I went to hug him I saw he was doing this weired throw up noises. I got out of the bed talked a bit with him and came into the living room where he stoped and started walking around. Since then he played, he eat some dry food, we went outside a bit. He was a bit agitated...he tried to sleep but didn't. Now he's just resting.
What could that been? A hair ball? Was he choking? I don't know if I know the difference between choking and throw up noise:( Im scared of hair balls because this is my first kitten and i've read some horror stories about how hair balls can kill a cat. The vet opens at 8...and even if I call them, they always say bring him in.
Im scared:(

Did it sound like this?

If he ate some dry, it probably wasn't him choking, or if it was, it's passed down into his stomach at least.

Its hard to say. Cats don't all sound the same when they vomit. We had 3 cats, mine doesn't make any sounds, except for deep, gross stomachy sounds, the smallest one didn't make any sounds and the eldest actually made coughing type noises, similar to a human. He could have been choking, or his tummy could have been upset to the point he felt like vomiting.

Don't be too afraid of hairballs. My cat has thrown up hairballs a foot long! (Gross, I know, sorry). He had an issue with them for a few years, to the point of throwing them up a few times a  week. A proper diet, brushing and getting his constipation under control all helped but they didn't kill him. Just make sure you keep up with grooming .

I'd keep an eye on him for now. If he his behavior and eating/litter habits aren't changed, it was probably nothing major.

So yeah....i was in panic mode in the morning [emoji]128552[/emoji] I've been watching him, he eat really well and went to the potty. He also got some new toys today so his level of play is really high now:) I think he's ok:)
I went to research some foods today...the doctor said he need to go on an adult food so he won't get fat...but I didn't decide on what to buy. I still don't know how much protein and fat should a dry food have in it for him not to get fat. Need more research done;)

You should consider adding wet food into his diet. Male cats on an all dry diet are at higher risk for urinary crystals. The extra moisture they get from canned food helps prevent this.

If he only eats the dry at certain times, it will help to keep him at a healthy weight if you only put a small amount of dry at those times or get rid of it completely. Dry has a lot more carbs than wet and if he decides to eat at other times or when you aren't watching then he could take in a lot more calories than needs.

No, he doesn't eat that much dry food...I think he keeps it just as a snack..but I still want the best that I can find for him.
