A little off topic, but Blue Man Group is playing in Ft. Smith Sept 15 &16.  I would love to go see them, but the cheapest tickets are $52.

Or the Beatles if they were all still alive.
They are alive, except for John & George. Although I guess a Ringo & Paul reunion tour would probably be lacking something.

I said if they were all still alive ;)

Pink Floyd when everyone was alive.

Already saw Tool and A Perfect Circle, two on my 'MUST SEE' list.

Also Deftones, Nine Inch Nails. Incubus (old Incubus) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (again, older albums).

I have and will pay lots of money to see System Of A Down.  The first/last time we saw them, we were 6 rows from the front, center stage!!! :D I would gladly pay twice what I paid the first time to see them in the FIRST Row!!

Not going to happen this year though. Not enough funds to spend wildly on a concert. Glad I got to see them at least once though :D

NICK CAVE!

I saw him in Boston about 14 years ago, leaving our baby at home with my husband (first time I was away from her). I took the subway from Cambridge to Boston and found my way there and back by myself late at night but it was totally worth it!

The last two concerts that I have gone to were free concerts.  They were benefits for the gulf coast after the BP oil spill.

Jimmy Buffett was the first but when we got there a storm was rolling in and they had to cancel the concert because it was on the beach.  We were really bummed but left and went to eat at

LuLu's "which is a resturant that Jimmy's sister opened up on the canal.  We had been there about 45 mins. when they announced there was a suprise guest singing so you can guess who it was!!  We had a front row seat and enjoyed every minute of it but within an hour you couldn't move in that place!

The second was Bon Jovi on the beach and it was equally amazing!  Both put on an amazing concert and I would love to see them again!

Had 10th row floor seat tickets for Aerosmith in Atlanta this summer but my dad got really sick and I had to sell them but it's ok because my dad comes first :)

It would need to be a multi-artist concert, either a charity concert or a homage to a genre (e.g., synthpop, which I enjoy tremendously) or a decade, etc. I don't see myself paying a lot of money just to see one artist.

Has anyone heard of the G3 series of concerts?  This is where 3 prominent guitarists get together and perform solo and group numbers.  Instead of being one long concert by one performer, each guitarist does about 20 minutes or so.  Then they have some real "show-off" pieces.  One of the best numbers from one of those concerts is Steve Vai's triple-neck guitar performance.

These concerts have been held all over the country, with different artists.  This performance was in Denver, and the other two artists were Joe Satriani and Yngvie Malmsteen.  Any guitar fan would pay big money for THAT lineup!

Note the use of the fretless bottom neck, the loop he sets at about 2 minutes that then serves as a "bed" for the rest of the piece, and be sure to stick around for wild 3-handed rip near the end.

Not sure I'd shell out the big buck for any one anymore, but the past have done so for The Rolling Stones (on more than one occasion).

About a month ago we went see an Eagles tribute band, and they were great!  We've decided that's what we're going to do from now on.  Stuff like that.  Smaller venues, much cheaper, and much more fun.   We've seen several Beatles tribute bands, and they've all been good too.  And even a Fleetwood Mac one.  They did a pretty good Stevie Nicks!

Yeah, we have a Beatle tribute group in the area, called "A Hard Night's Day."  They are VERY good, and you can usually get to see them for free.

On a side note, when I worked on a cruise web site, I pitched an idea to all the cruise lines.  Knowing their demographic, I suggested the contract with a bunch of tribute bands like the Beatles, etc.  Then, on each cruise, the band would do one "concert" night show, one "sock hop" type show, and then change ships at one of the ports with another band, who would do the same thing later in the week.  If the ships kept in stock the necessary instruments (no need to move amplifiers and drum sets, for example), this would be a good gig for a lot of working musicians who can't currently afford to be "all music," and would hit the demographic almost perfectly.

Some tributed groups I would suggest would be the Beatles, the Stones, the Beach Boys, the Turtles, the Kinks, Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Dave Clark 5, and a bunch of others.  These would hit the "Baby Boomer" group almost perfectly.

The best evening's entertainment we ever had on a cruise was on the Norwegian Sea, a ship half the size of even some of the smaller cruise ships today.  The ship's company put on a Broadway version of "Grease," then held a sock hop that was the best-attended shipboard party I have ever seen.

A couple videos of them.  I tried to find their performance of "Revolution," which is VERY good, but I struck out.  We saw them in an outdoor concert at our local shopping center, which has a free Friday night music series.  I was amazed at how many kids, and I mean down to 12-year-olds, were singing with them!

Very good.  I see they even have a lefty bass player that uses a violin body bass.   Another tribute band is RAIN,  a Japanese band that even looks like the Beatles.  You might be able to catch them on PBS during a pledge drive.

The only concert I think I would have paid big bucks to see was Mr. Cash. He passed away before I even got into his music so I never had a chance anyway lol. I love such a wide variety of artists/bands that I can't think of any now that'd I'd fork over lots of money for.
I was fortunate enough to see Johnny Cash (I asume that is who you mean?) year ago when he was younger and so was I.  It was a very reasonably priced concert and I had a front row seat.  The only thing I missed was seeing June Carter Cash because she was about to have a child (John Jr.).

As to who I would pay big bucks to see?  Probably no one that I can think of.  Maybe if Harry Chapin were still alive...I always wished I could have seen him.

Nope. I'm a guitar fan for sure, but I wouldn't pay a dime to see Yngwie Malmsteen. Sure, he's got technique, but that alone doesn't do it for me. Have you seen the videos of him playing with orchestras? Strikes me as extremely self-absorbed.

Steve Vai I might go see.

Eddie Van Halen, now... I'd still pay big bucks to see him. :D
