Hi,

We have had our male cat (moggie) Dizzie for just under 2 years, he has been fine and well all that time. We recently approx month ago got a new female tabby kitten Dayz she got a lump on her back size of a golf ball for no apparent reason and had diarrea so we took her to the vets immediately they started her on Pro Kalin aswell as a new 'Specific' diet and that was not helping although the lump started to go down. I took her back again and she has now been on antibiotics for 2 days and seems to be getting better, the lump is now pea sized or smaller and she has started to get a little more solid poo also her third eye lids have disappeared which app is a good sign as they where showing while she was ill.

This morning I noticed Dizzie (older cat) acting a little abnormal, although the two cats are great friends and play together Dizzie just seemed to want more attention from me which is not usuall, and just doesnt seem his meowy self, his third eye lids have come out which the vet said is a sign he might be in pain and his poo is not runny but not as solid as normal. I have started him on Pro Kalin to see if that helps but should I just take him to the vets.

I ask on here as I have spend ALOT of money at the vets this month and really struggle to afford much more, Obviously if he has to go he has to go.

Any help, advice is greatly appriciated

Matt

What was the lump? If it was an abscess it should have been opened up. Abscesses HAVE to drain or the poison will spread into the blood stream.

Was the kitten de-wormed? Parasites is my first thought. Third eyelid showing is often a sign of stomach or intestinal upset. I suspect both cats need a dose of de-wormer. Don't buy over the counter products though, get the drontal or profender (spot-on) from the vet.

They didnt know what the lump was but as it was going down just said just to leave it, they suggested it could have been a reaction to her first jabs although it was a little lower than where she had it done. I think in the first jab the kitten had some de wormer although she was so small she could not have them all done. I think your right its some kind of stomach upset as the poo has no worms, I have cleared out hundreds and hundreds. the vet didn seem to think it was worms. they get fee treatment and we comb them, older one had bad flea problem about a yr ago but they seem flea free.

I wondered if i could just put my older cat on the same antibioticsa as the kitten as its clearly same problem but i dont wana do it if i shouldnt.

Thanks. Im sure ill be a regular on here as my cats are funny little things
