It is a little blurry, but here you can really see how small she is. Today I got to hold her and she was only wrapped in a blanket.
Awww!  I bet when she gets just a little bigger it'll be like holding a doll!  Thats what I kept thinking when I saw pics of a girl I went to school withs babies.  I think they were born at 32 or 34 weeks.  One was just under 4lb and one was just a tad over I think.  If I remember right; one of her older ones thought they were dolls...  (This girl now has 5 kids and for a while 4 of them were under 3...)

She is a beautiful little girl with a beautiful name. It is god to know she is growing stronger. Being held by mommy and daddy is probably helping as much a medical intervention at this point.

My second granddaughter was a little early, just a couple weeks, and her pediatician told her parents they couldn't spoil a newborn, and she should be held as much as she wanted to be.

Just thought I would update on how Aimee is doing. They tried to take her off CPAP twice last week (Tuesday and Friday). On Tuesday, she lasted 2½ hours and on Friday she lasted a little over 4 hours.  Her heart rate was dropping, so they had to put her back on. On Wednesday (this week), she decided she had enough and pulled the CPAP mask off. They decided since it was already off, they would leave it off. 2 days later, it is still off.
She loves her soother. The nurse gave it to her and she was holding onto it.

From Wednesday when she got off CPAP

She loves to put her hands on her face

I just have to say, she is beautiful, sweet, charming and so so so cute. Please, NEVER, give up hope. She will be just fine
. I was born at 2lbs and 3 and a half months premature. Also, I had five quarter sized holes in my heart, needed open heart surgery, had lung issues and so on. The doctors told my parents, I would never live. Well, I surprised them and lived
. Then, the doctors, told my parents, I would never speak or write. They basically said, I would be highly brain damaged.

Well, I did take till three years old to talk. But, once I did, I just spoke in full sentences. I did learn to read and and write. I did need OT (occupational therapy) and PT (physical therapy). However, now, I can walk, run, ride a bike, write, cook, clean, and all that.

I will be thirty years old, in two months
. However, I should be proud. Well, one, I am simply alive. Two, I am not brain damaged. Three, I have a Bachelors degrees in science (herpetology and biology) and a masters in science (genetics) as well. However, my job is working at a college, with, students and computers. Please, don't ask, how, that ever started. I am not even sure some days
.

Lastly, I have a husband, two children, cats, dogs, exotic birds, and reptiles and amphibians
.

So, for someone, who, doctors where going to write off, I think, I did very well
. Just, never ever give up hope
.

Squeeeee! Oh, look at her! Her skin has lost that preemie transparent look, and she's so alert and interested in the world around her! Still small, of course, but she's growing. You just wait; some day soon she'll be toddling around on her own, a whirlwind of activity, and you'll wonder how she ever managed to be so small.

She is so sweet and healthy looking.  She is also very responsive to her surroundings and having you there with her every day will make a big difference for her.
