Moved out of state. Was told I could buy two seats on the plane to fly to cats. Buy tickets, cannot buy two seats. Ugh. I leave cat with a long time friend and will go back and get her within a few days. I call to check on cat, he informs me cat is no where to be found. Tells me she's gone. I'm so upset I don't know what to do. Another friend said he should pay for the cat or buy me another one. I don't want the money or another cat, I want my Mitty.

Yes, he's looking for her. I'm holding out hope she is simply hiding. She is excellent at hiding in crazy places from the vacuum. I'm going back to search the house myself. I feel like there's a death in my family. :(

If your friend thinks the cat is still inside, tell him to look in all the closets and etc.  Sometimes cats accidently get locked up in small spaces.

When I was in college, I lived in a house that didn't have screens on most of the windows (student ghetto, lol). I was cat sitting my parents/my cat Lois while they were away on vacation, she mostly stayed in my room but when I was home, she was allowed to roam around the house (main level of a house, basement was another apartment). I was at work one day and one of my roommates had gone into my room to get something and forgot to close the door. Since it was the fall, we had the windows open. The window in my bedroom had a screen but the ones in the main living area didn't. I got home from work and we couldn't find Lois. I was livid at my roommate/friend. We looked all over the house, walked around the neighbourhood with a flash light at midnight calling her name and shaking treats. Still no Lois. We all came home to try to regroup and figure out how we could find her. That's when we heard faint meowing. I had a dresser in my closet that didn't quite fit, so there was about 6" behind it. A perfect, safe, dark hiding spot for a scared cat. That's where she had gone to hide, but because of the shape of the space she couldn't get out herself. She hid there for the first two days on and off while she was staying with us before she would come out and spend time with us.

Hopefully your kitty is just hiding like Lois was.
