Sigh...

Another stray (canine, this time) wandered into our lives yesterday. It's a 4-month old female puppy that looks like a Belgian Malinois. No collar, of course. Our neighbor thought it was ours b/c it looks a lot like Petey - only Petey is 8 or 9 years old and 35#. This puppy is 4 months old and 40#.
She's gonna be a HUGE dog. She has a really cool personality, too - but we already have 2 dogs in a small suburban yard, so we're going to have to find a home for her if no one claims her. No-one has reported her missing so far. I've put reports at all the shelters...am wondering if maybe the police would be interested in her...she is a police-type dog and seems to have a great personality. She is keeping my hands FULL today
- likes to play in the waterdish & make a huge mess, and I can't let her in the yard with my dogs until she gets checked by the vet...the appointment is this afternoon. ARGH.

Why why why why WHY do people get pets and then just dump them?

Don't have any pictures yet but she looks kind of like this only with flopped-over ears:

Poor baby being abandoned. At least she has found an angel in you.

Thanks
I'd better watch out though, my husband's falling in love with her.
She's laying on the floor next to me now, with her feet sticking up in the air, snoring like only a puppy can!

Well, if you can get your husband to fall in love with her, then maybe you will get to keep her. She sounds like she will make a wonderful dog.

She is a cutie pie, smart, with a good personality.
But I don't think we'll be able to keep her - we already have 2 dogs, and one is older & has some arthritis - he's a little less than thrilled by this puppy.
I just got back from the vet - he said she's about 4 months old and will get to be at least 70 or 80 pounds, maybe larger. She doesn't have a microchip, and she has worms pretty bad, so I don't think she belongs to anyone, or if she does they didn't take care of her. I don't think it'll be too hard to find her a home, though (I hope!). The place where I took her for class will let me post a picture of her. I am so thankful to my vet
- he gives me a really good price break when I bring in strays for care.

I think we must have a dog & cat hobo sign somewhere on our house that says "good place to stay, stop here!"

Any board magic or prayers for the puppy to find a good home will be greatly appreciated!

Usually dogs with 70 - 80 pounds are more calm dogs , they just look huge and thats it . That puppy sounds like a real cutie to me . Thank you for caring you are a
Good luck finding her a home .

Awwww!!! I'm really sorry about this Tux, I'm sure you would like to have her but can't at the moment. I always wonder the same question, why do people have pets and then abandon them? I do hope someone is looking for her or that you find a good home for her. She is a cutie pie!

She is a cutie, isn't she? She's going to be a BIG dog, though! Thank goodness I was able to teach her "sit" today - I was getting really tired of being scratched up. I don't think we'll have much trouble finding her a home...I've got the feelers out among all the dog people I know. We have a "dog network" a "cat network" and a "general softie network" of people to help keep ears out for homes.

update...
good thing she's so cute, b/c underneath that cute exterior is a ball of determined energy, covered at the moment with mud!

ROFLMAO! Hey - we left that sign for you when we moved out of Texas 10 years ago - you just finding it now!?!?!?!

We had a lot of dogs wander up to our house when we lived outside of Houston and did the same that you are doing. We ended up with 5 dogs weighing in at 45, 55, 67, 75 and 95 pounds (roughly), and adopting out at least half a dozen in the 2-1/2 years we lived there.

Good luck Tux (or is that Tex?) - you're an angel!!!

Yes, that's about how many we've had come by over the last couple of years!
Let's see...Mutt, Golden Retriever mix, Australian Shepherd, Chihuahua, Mutt, Catahoula hound, Australian Cattle Dog, and now German Shepherd(ish)!

Want your sign back?
