With my work schedule being so crazy, I don't have much time to post on here like I used to but I've still been lurking pretty regularly, lol.

Yesterday, while I was at Job #3, I got a text from two of my coworkers at Job #1. Our boss/manager had been let go. It is a huge shock to all of us, she was the glue that held us together and we weren't expecting it at all. Head office had been breathing down her neck to make some changes that just weren't possible at store level and I guess they had finally had enough.

I had been working some crazy hours there just for her. I am one of the few people at our store that can do what I do and definitely the fastest person in doing them. I talked to my dad last night and we discussed how I should move forward. I really haven't been happy there for the last 5 (out of 7) years. I would work late on Friday nights and go in really early on Saturday mornings - legally, it wasn't allowed but since I agreed to it, it was fine. Doing that was really starting to take a toll on me, both emotionally and physically, in the last year especially. I'm constantly tired, can't remember the last time that I've gone a few weeks without a cold and I could never go out with my friends. If I did want a Friday, Saturday, or the weekend off, it was a battle to get it. It also meant that I couldn't really focus on Job #2, which I absolutely love. Today I went online to our work site and changed my availability. I will only be working there 3 days a week and will have Saturday off to focus on Job #2 (which, as a bonus, pays almost $4/hr more and I make my own schedule).

In addition to everything else that's going on, I start school on Friday for Veterinary Office Management. I still don't know if my request for OSAP was accepted or not, but my dad has covered it for me for this semester and I'll pay him back myself over time if I don't get it.

If anyone can spare some vibes that I will have enough hours to make enough money to pay for everything until things get sorted out every where I'd really appreciate it. We don't know what's going to happen with Job #1 and as much as I'd love to just quit, I can't afford to do that right now. As it stands now, I've freed up 8 hours for someone that needs them more than I do.

Sending lots of
your way.  How on earth do you manage to do everything and still find time to sleep??????
Energy drinks or LOTS of coffee in the morning or when I'm working late shifts, then Bob Marley's Mellow Mood drinks at night, lol. I also use a few natural remedies that make me tired. With all that being said, even though I sleep, it's usually not long enough unless I'm lucky to have a night shift, lol.

So I have an update. On Thursday I had to go into Job #1 before going to Job #2 so that I could pick up something that I forgot and needed before going into Job #1 on Friday. When I got there, the owner of the store was there and pulled me into her office. The first thing that went through my head was "Oh ****, I'm getting fired". Not the case, she just wanted to let me know what was going on personally before rumours got started (too late, lol). While I was there I talked to the supervisor that had to approve my availability change, I tried to explain why (said I was getting pressure to focus on Job #2 instead of telling them complete truth) but she just fluffed me off. Whatever. She's never liked me and I don't have a problem with that, she has very little impact on my schedule.

While I was there, I got a chance to talk to the man who is taking over the position until the job is posted (and will be applying for it once it's posted). He trained at our store almost 6 months ago, so we all already knew him and got along with him. He talked about making some really positive changes that I think will be good for us, but only time will tell. I let him know that I would not be working Saturdays any more and, although he was disappointed, he understood why. None of the changes will take place until this coming weekend, it would have been a nightmare to try to change it for this weekend and he wanted to see how things worked normally. Needless to say, we had a very bad weekend, lol. Friday night they decided to train a new person and put someone that was barely trained on as the second cashier. That meant that instead of getting my regular work done, plus what everyone else dumps on me, I got stuck on cash for a good portion of the night. Of course that meant that I had to do everything this morning, so instead of having my stuff pretty much done by 8:30-9:00 am, it wasn't done until almost noon. He was very understanding and kept checking in with me, listened to my suggestions and actually considered them.

I am hoping that they will just hire him on instead of posting the job. The last thing we need is for him to make all of these changes and then go somewhere else, leaving us to have to start all over again with a new manager.

I calculated how many hours I will have an approximately how much I will be making before taxes. I will have an average of 41.5 hours a week and my income will actually go up! I wish I had actually gone through all of this sooner and come to this realization. Oh well!

I've sort of started school but I won't be really focusing on it until Monday. I have to get a textbook that's $125, so that's going to have to wait until next week. My friend that's taking the same course just bought the book on Amazon, so I'm going to have her scan the first chapter of the book for me so that I can start studying before I get it. So, if anyone has a 3rd edition copy of An Illustrated Guide To Veterinary Medical Terminology they want to sell, PM me, lol.

Now I've got to go finish calculating the carb counts on all of the wet foods we sell at Job #3 for a chart we're doing, I have a question about ash content but I'll start another thread on that, lol.
