Hi,
My cat is named Cinnamon. I just adopted her about a month ago. She may have been abandoned in my subdivision or brought here. There really aren't pets running around free where I live. She was right in my back yard crying and very hungry. She was obviously domesticated and so friendly. I got her some food and took to the vet for shots and a checkup and the doc says she was a bit skinny but otherwise seemed just fine. She said she thinks she's about 5 years old. She's gained a couple pounds and is looking great.
What brought us to the forum initially was me searching for hairball remedies. She gets quite a few and I'm concerned now. After reading about vaseline I ran out and got some and put a dollup on the back of her front paws and she licked it up. I'm going to give it to her 3 days in a row, then try once every 2 or 3 days. But she's been throwing them up regularly. Maybe two a week, sometimes just one. I was hoping for a miracle and that the vaseline would help her immediately, but I just heard her coughing a few minutes ago, so I know another one is coming. Sometimes they are wet, sometimes really dry like a tumbleweed. But I really want to help her. Maybe she developed this problem while she was on her own for a while.
I was thinking about getting some canned pumpkin and see if she'll eat that. I do brush her regularly and plan to purchase the Furmenator. I've had cats before but they never had hairballs.
Thanks for the welcome,
Beverly and Cinnamon
