I am looking to get my cats into holistic vets mainly because they will be on a raw diet. For 2 cats to visit, I guess an hour consultation, is $332.

I was just wondering how much everyone pays, if you go to holistic Vet? The same office also has standard vets, so I'm just torn right now.

Not sure why you need a holistic vet because the cats are eating raw.  My vet (cheap UK vet) charges about $25 for a consult, though the last one was $10!  But this was for the consutation, not for an hour.  At 15 minutes per consultation that would be over $80 and to be honest I think that is taking the p*ss.

Thanks for providing your costs. I wanted to meet with them for the nutritional aspect, to gather his input.

At this point, we decided to make an appointment with the conventional vet who is in the same office, and see how that goes, since they are pretty much a raw believing office. :D

This visit will just be their annual checkup.

There are specific Internet fora for RAW feeding of cats including the board here, and you might well get better advice there for free than from the vets...

Here are prices for a holistic vet care practice near Baltimore, Maryland.  This vet was recommended to me by my human holistic doctor:

Consulation (1 hour) $160; you complete and fax a five page questionnaire before seeing the vet.

Holistic reassessment (30 minutes) $65

Acupuncture $45

Chiropractic Care $45

Note that some pet insurance companies will cover some of the cost of holistic care.   And I agree with OrientalSlave, I'd first look on the Raw forums for information.  If your cat has special needs (like FIV+), then I think a consulation with a holistic vet would be a good idea.  Personally, I think it is important that the person you see is a vet first, holistic practitioner, second.

www.catcentric.org is an excellent resource, too.
