We lost poor Willow last night and after looking up a ton of stuff we found something that fits all of them. Fading Kitten Syndrome (the way they usually die sounds just like how Willow died)

It says in some cases the kitten can have a blood clot and it gets lodged in the tail causing necrosis of the tail tip and it falls off (Salem had just that! It says those ones usually survive so we have hope for him)

Jewel's starting to get skinny and going between eating and being forced to eat. Bought homepathic digest upset stuff that helps loss of appetite and they've been eating better since having that and after a good hour of cuddling Jewel looked like she was feeling better and she started playing with my hand and cleaning herself and "running" around the room and acting like herself more, but she's still skinny.

And my brother noticed Sabrina was walking weird on her front feet so I looked and she was so I picked her up and her wrists are bent backward at an odd angle (something looking between an S and a Z) they're not swollen like an injury and she walks on them without limping or trying to keep weight off them. one's bent more than the other and they're horrible to look at. Don't have the money for go to the emergency vet right now so hopefully can take her to our normal vet tomorrow. Trying to keep her from walking too much. When we first noticed it i touched t and felt it pop and it was straight for a little but once she started walking again it bent back. Wondering if it's because of what we thinks going on with them, or if it's a birth defect. It looked fine earlier and she hasn't been stepped on/fallen off anything at all in the past week and it just doesn't look/feel/act like an injury.

The're not tolerating the glop well anymore so we're going to try a recipe for kittens with diarrhea later tonight (trying KMR 2nd step mixed with pumpkin for them right now)

We're worried about these little guys and really don't want to lose anymore of them, but if it is FKS there's nothing we're going to be able to do. Keep these little ones in your thoughts. We wanna see these go be the amazing playful kittens they can be in loving homes and grow up to amazing beautiful cats.

On a good note, Heather's only had one day of seeming nasty and now just lies there watching me and lets me touch her and chows down on her canned food. Next TNR appt on the 14th when Pip goes to try to get fixed again (she's now with her new mommy who's never had a cat before but her apartment looks like she's had cats forever!)

Sabrinas legs is perhaps not so serious. There is something called Twisted kitten legs. Looks horrible, but usually gets over till they shall into adoption homes.  Some massaging helps of course.

If so, Sabrinas is not the worst case possible.

About the other, I dont really know.

What kmr brand do you use? the KMR-itself? If you cant find reliable kmr, goat milk works fine.  Although not even goat milk is any remedy against FKS...

FKS is a pretty broad term for kittens dying, antibiotics can be helpful depending if it's viral or a genetic weakness. I'd take them all to the vet.

Well we think it's the blood incompatibility with the mom. Everything we've read about it fits what's happening to these little ones.

Sabrina passed last night and is now buried by Willow

Salem's switching between eating and being forced to eat. Jewel we were worried about yesterday but now she's eating like she used to and venturing our into the kitchen at top speed and trying to climb counters and this morning had a much better looking poo. Keeping close eyes on these two remaining ones.

Thunder worried me yesterday too. She was sleeping all day and lost a bit of weight (but would eat when I brought canned food to her and she'd play a little bit. This morning she's much better and more awake and joining the little ones in some fattening food to get her weight back up. We gave her wormer 2 days ago and she puked after that so I'm wondering if she just didn't feel good from it still. Keeping another close eye on her.

And Mica's still not himself since going to the APL on Friday, and from what we heard Pip just lies around a lot. They were much less active and depressed looking after going (Pip only got vaccines and Revolution, and Mica that plus being fixed) and we're wondering if we should even try taking the other kittens there or going somewhere else (know a place that does fixing for $40 for males and $45 for females and they're really good) but he is getting a little more active day by day. He's become a little follower now too. Followed my dad into the basement and got lost so he started crying

And we used the brand KMR. Goats milk is not easy to find around here either.

Hoping we don't have any more kitten funerals. 2 in 2 days is sad enough.

So sorry both Sabrina and Willow are gone.   RIP!

Im praying for these alive.    *Prayers*

I asked about the kmr brand, as there is one brand with a really bad reputation. A reputation hinting it could give these symptoms.  Althoug to be fair, I also know forumites who used it and it was OK.

KMR is OK, supposed to be one of the better, although I have a feeling they have a better mixture sold in Sweden than in USA.

And as said, goat milk seems to work for most, both kittens, puppies, and humans with sensitive human stomach.  A good tip for any rescuer.  Worth to have your eyes open if you see one.

Warm hugs to you, AshyFulz.

Good luck!   *vibes*

Jewel is back to her old self, eating 6 & 1/2 droppers and exploring and climbing everything she can. She's gaining weight again and getting very pudgy!

Salem's worrying us now. He's not acting like himself today and he chewed on one dropper but I had to force another and he's losing weight. Not sure he's going to make it but we're not giving up yet. They're now cuddled together in a cat bed with blankets after their lunch.

This is the most problematic group we've ever had. We're thinking if it is the blood thing, Jewel may have a different father than the others. She looked very different and never got as bad as the others. She only had a day of refusing to eat and that could be because she didn't feel good (Willow started to refuse KMR but when we switched to glop she attacked it because it wasn't what made her feel bad)

Hoping they both make it, or at least Jewel makes it.

Blood incompatibility shows up soon after birth not weeks later

Hope you can vet them and find the issue

Jewel is doing GREAT! Gaining weight, eating like a pro, her poops are back to normal, and she's starting to play and run as fast as she can to chase other kittens and tries to run with her back arched (I hope I can get a video of this later, it's quite ridiculous!) she's climbing everything too and her favorite spot is in the kitchen!

Salem is super skinny but made it through last night and is still walking around and his poops are looking better. We just need to get some more weight on him. We were surprised he made it through the night and we're giving him at least 1 dropper every half-hour or so. He looks perkier after each feeding. He even crawled out from the bed in the cage to go cuddle with older ones and his sister in a different bed and hums whenever we wake him up.

Mica still isn't himself but getting better. Giving him lots of one on one time and he seems much happier. We think it's a combo of the vaccines and him missing his sisters.

Thunder's back to her old self and just needs a little chubbing up.

Lost Salem while I was at work last night. Before I left for work he couldn't even stand up. Buried out with his sisters.

We've decided we're going to keep Jewel (the miracle kitten) along with Thunder. She's got quite the personality and is doing great (plus my mom bought her a little purple bell for her future collar the other week)

Middle 4 got their Advantage II Kitten today along with baths. Jewel had just a bath. She's a super smart kitten too! She watches the others and has been eating canned food, she watched one drink out of the dog dish and she started drinking too.

Fern is at her new home now and her mom couldn't be happier.

Chip's going to her new home this weekend and in November will have a new born baby in the house with her.

Mica's about 85% back to himself. Getting very playful again and he follows us everywhere!!! He gets lost a lot to if you don't notice he's following

Ivy and Mica love each other so we're trying to home them together. Have 2 people who want 2 kittens each so hopefully one wants them!

I'm sorry to hear about Salem
Sometimes despite our best efforts there is just nothing that can be done. At least he got to spend his short life in a loving home!
