I posted a few days ago because I was frustrated over my kitten not being interested in Weaning. Well we figured out he just didn't like the food we were trying to give him! Got some "pate" and he dove right into that. Well actually...I had to spoon feed him and then he licked some remains himself. I also soaked some try cat food in weaning formula and he seems to like that. I did give him some dry cat food soaked in wean formula. Not as great of a response, but he did eat some off my finger. I'm now just giving him a bottle with water after I feed him, but I'll slowly stop that soon.

Is he getting enough to eat? He seems satisfied and falls right to sleep afterwards for a while. Whereas before we found him a food he liked he was waking up every 1-2 hours crying. I also don't want this to be too fast of a transition for him because I've heard weaning too fast causes tummy aches and runs.

Not sure what the point of the bottle of water is.  The best measure of if he is getting enough is if he is putting on enough weight, and if his poo is a good consistency.

well I'm not about to buy a scale to see if he's gaining weight, but he's definitely growing.

But you're right, there was no point to the bottle of water. I just wanted to make sure he was hydrated...sorry...never hand reared a kitten before. But he is eating on his own. Kind of...sometimes he

wants me to feed him from a spoon, but other times he'll just walk up to his dish and eats the weaning

formula that we thickened up.

I understand you feel it isnt that necessary now.  Although it would be even more useful if you had such a kitchen scale when he was new..

You can get kitchen scale really cheap if you seek a little. You dont need to take the mosp costly.

Perhaps even an used in a second hand shop...

Or you can surely borrow one from a neighbour.  If you do have a good reason, and explaing and ask, they wont refuse, even neighbour you normally dont talk with.

I mean, if you are rescuing some other time, or so.   :)

Good luck!
