It is 6am (east coast us) and my cat woke me up as she usually does doing her blanket sucking and kneading - she will do this for 10 minuets almost 15 sometimes - and likes to go in a circle as she does - she woke me up and and I noticed her special place looked like their was liquid around it - I gently blotted the area with some toilet paper and there was a discharge looking substance - this may sound gross but I took a quick sniff to see if it was urine bc that is easy to smell especially with cats - but it wasn't - I wiped a few more times and it was still there - is this labor starting? It's 6am - so I'd like to go back to bed but I don't want to if she may be starting labor - she went back to the floor and is laying down now - but her head is up - she doesn't look like she's going to sleep - she isn't licking herself and she doesn't appear to be nesting although she was in her birthing box a little while before she woke me up for real! Should I keep my eye on her? Can I sleep? Is this normal??!! Any help please!!!! The vet told us when we visited she was due in 10-15 days - this is day 17 - so I am concerned if she is late - I don't know when to start worrying! Is this discharge normal? Is it a sign?!

If she isnt in pain or distress, you can probably await. After all, cats can have several hours between deliveries, so the waters going doesnt need to be any immediate danger by itself.

You visited a vet with her? So you are his paying patient?  You can phone and ask if you want.  At least, during the office and ready hours.

Good luck!

thank you! she went back to laying down - so maybe it's another false alarm - although I was rubbing her belly like usual and she got snippy - I'll keep an eye on her - she seems OK now - keeps changing spots - but laying down ok
