Little Willow died last night. She had been doing great but two days ago she got really skinny and yesterday stopped eating.

We force fed her and while I was out with my brother my mom kept giving her food every hour (you had to pry her mouth open to get her to eat) and the last time she tried to feed her she was just limp with almost no heart beat and died a little after that.

Going to miss my little baby. Feel like I just lost a child. But she was loved, cared for, not in pain, and slipped away cuddled up with her siblings all comfy and cozy rather than alone outside.

We think it was from her foot, which had been bitten before we took her in and was all scabbed over and big until her first bath which it went to normal sized but the scab/callus turned a brown color (thought it was just drying up and healing but now wondering if that was actually just showing infection) or if it was congenital (that colony is severely inbred) which if it was either of those she would have been abandoned and died alone, rather than with a pile of warm kittens and a loving family.

We buried her under our butterfly bush and next year are planting a willow tree by there for an official grave marker (currently has a large slate tile to prevent dogs and other critters from digging up the body and so we know where she is)

We're keeping a close eye on the other 3 smooshies to make sure they don't start going downhill.

~RIP Willow: 8/11/12 - 9/1/12~

Poor little one, she had such a short life, but at least she was loved and cared for. RIP, Willow.

Sabrina joined Willow last night and was buried right next to her sister
hoping the other 2 make it. She was doing so good in the morning too. I hate how fast kittens can go.

AW, hun. :bawling: I know of your efforts to save these babies from your thread in the Feral forum. Please know that at least these babies ALL knew love and had lovely, beautiful names that they took to the bridge with them. I am sorry for all of these losses this last week. They are all together playing peacefully on the bridge. :rbheart:
