Heather wouldn't eat her dried food, but she loves the canned food! Using her litter box like a pro and ended up flipping her hidey box over which I haven't been able to fix for her since she's always in it.

She let me scratch behind her ears the other day! Of course then I went to work and it was dark once I got back and tried again and she wanted to kill me (my theory is she's still on the be awake at night schedule and was more active at that point) so I just gave her a can and let her be. Today I got a little hiss in the morning but that's it. She was shaking the first day but now she just lies there and watches me. Going to give her a can of tuna tomorrow (high-end treat that we used to catch her too! She loved it!)

Now for the sad news. We lost one of the smooshies
RIP Willow 8/11/12 - 9/1/12

:sniffle: Very sad about :rbheart: Willow - but you are right - she was loved, she was well cared for, and she had a beautiful name. :rbheart:

Heather is smart!! Because wet/canned food is much better for cats to eat than dry food. So keep up with the wet food, if you can. If she let you pet her behind her ears - that is a GREAT sign.:clap::clap::clap: Good luck and sorry again about little :rbheart: Willow. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Heather switched from only eating 1 can to now downing 2 cans a day! I make sure to spend time with her daily and touch her at least once (usually while giving her her food) and she looks more relaxed now. She keeps flipping her box then crawling under it rather than going inside it when it's like a house

There's the little one getting a head scratch

We sadly lost Sabrina last night. 2 kitten funerals in 2 days. Not fun. She died all wrapped up in a blanket being pet and loved and even purred a bit before going. She fought for a while but the poor little thing was too far gone. Hopefully the other 2 make it. We're not finding them homes until we're sure they survive.

Heather keeps going back and forth between hissing and just being there. I'm cleaning up my room even more this week so she can get out of the very spacey dog cage and get even more room. I took mica up to her and pet him infront of her and he helped himself to some of her food and she seemed very interested in Mica (though hissed because my hand was on him at the time she wanted to see him) I think Mica may help me gain somebody's trust.

Salem's super skinny but hanging in there and still walking around. We're shocked he survived the night and are feeding him often and keeping him warm.

Jewel is the most playful I've ever seen her and she climbs on everything now! She also has become super snuggley and purry!

:clap::clap: For Jewel - she sounds like she is thriving. Mega vibes for Salem :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: Heather sounds like a very typical, frightened kitty. Confused - going back and forth with hissing and interest. This is a very hard time for her. Very possible that Mica might help her become more trustful of you. :cross: Sometimes these kitties will bond closely with one of the resident cats before the human caretaker!!! :lol3: Much, much luck :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Salem ended up passing yesterday while I was at work and is buried with his sister.

Jewel (the miracle kitty) is going to be staying with us along with Thunder (mom says we've put way too much into those two to let them go
)

Mica and Ivy are going to hopefully be rehomed together. they've become good buddies and the only kittens out of the 11 we've had that have formed a bond with each other so closely.

If I don't say hi to Thunder right when i get home, she'll mew at me and run over for her greetings! Jewel is in love with running into the kitchen and makes her rounds with her people.

Heather's working on 3 cans a day now. She's becoming a piggy!

And mica's a little follower and gets lost a lot when people don't realize he's following them

We're down to 5 kittens in the house now instead of 11 (Fern, Cheeto, and Pip all are at their new homes. Sabrina, Salem, and Willow got funerals) Chip's going to her new home this weekend too!

Unless there's a huge kitten emergency/a needy little one, we're done with them for this season. We're missing our sleep

It's terribly sad, but at least we gave them a nice warm home with plenty of play mates and they were all loved and they all died either cuddled with siblings or wrapped up in a blanket and being held, rather than being abandoned and left to die alone. Now they can all go play with each other and not have to go through any suffering and Jewel will always have a kitten with her to play with and keep her company (since the older cats ignore the babies)

I know. When I lost Patches and Bright Eyes last year, it tore me up, but I knew that they had been loved and happy for their short (3 years) lives. S&S helped me get over some of it, but I still miss all of them.

AW hun.... so sorry about :rbheart: Salem. I love your attitude here :yeah: Absolutely, those babies knew love and without you, then would not have passed to the bridge peacefully and have known love and care. Bless your heart for what you did for them. Continued vibes for everyone else :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: Keep the updates coming. and I do hope you get some much needed sleep
