Here's Izzy.

On August 27 or thereabouts some cruel and callous person threw this 5 day old little kitten into a recycle bin. Eyes and ears of course still closed, umbilical cord still attached. He was somehow rescued and brought to a veterinary hospital where the daughter-in-law of a friend of mine works. Friend now is caring for kitten, feeding him around the clock and helping him pee and poop.

One eye is injured. Seems to be improving. Infection in left forearm (from scrape or scratch when he was tossed into bin? IDK) It's been lanced and pus removed, he's on antibiotics and doing much better. If it's just in the muscle all will be well. If it's in his elbow he may be lame for life.

I cannot get my mind around to understand how someone could do this.

He was named Isaac because he was to be a sacrifice, but was rescued. Since he's such a little kitten Isaac is too big a name and for now he's Izzy.

Wish him well.

Here's an Izzy update:

His rescue is even more miraculous than I first realized. It was a man operating a crusher at a recycle center who heard a kitten crying, shut off the machinery, and found Izzy. Called his wife who came, picked up the kitten and - with 5 children in tow - took him to the vet hospital. He had a bleeding cut on his face, across his eye.

And yes, the sight in that eye is gone. But fortunately his other eye is fine.

Now that the swollen forearm has been lanced and he's on antibiotics Izzy is doing much, much better. He's livelier, and is just beginning to walk rather than "starfish", even putting weight on the affected foreleg.

He has a black and white cat puppet to snuggle with, with an alarm clock ticking away behind it. I was visiting today and it was just so adorable to watch him squirm his way under the puppet's leg, closer to the clock, and fall asleep all snuggled up. And then with a big yawn when he woke up.

He's eating well and growing every day, purring and yeeking and getting livelier and more active.

I do love stories with happy endings. Please keep those healing thoughts and good wishes coming.
