The time has finally come for the second fumigation for the bed bug issue 2 floors below mine.

I took my kids to the vet's yesterday evening for boarding because I didn't want to have to take more time off work to get them there, and they aren't open late enough on Friday for me to pick them up after work without my having to leave early.  So I opted to board them for 3 days.

Tomorrow when I get home from work I can wash out the cupboards in the kitchen and start to put my stuff away.... again!

I'll have the spare room sorted out by the time I pick the kids up on Saturday afternoon.

Since I have to unpack everything again, I'm going to do a second purge and get rid of even more stuff.  When I purged earlier this year, I got rid of 6 large boxes of stuff.  I hope to get rid of even more.

Well - I guess the good news with this bed bug nightmare is that you are getting a Spring cleaning in the Fall! :lol3: I hope this will be the end of those rotten little nasty bugs.... :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I hope so too!

Last night I vacuumed and did some re-prepping of things that I had to move back in order to allow myself to function for the last 10 days.  I didn't see any bugs. I pulled my bed and end tables out from the wall, inspected the furniture and the plastic covering my bed, the baseboard and the wall. Nothing.  But I vacuumed well anyway, and tonight I plan on using the floor steamer on the carpet, especially near the baseboard so that the steam can penetrate into the carpet hidden by the baseboard, just to make sure.  And I will be garment steaming my end tables and dresser again too.

It's a 3 day weekend this weekend, so I'm hoping I can make a good dent in the unpacking. I'm tired of living in mess and clutter. I'm a very tidy person and my anxiety levels are astronomical when I walk into my apartment. Plus with all the clutter, I can't even do any cleaning, and my allergies are through the roof from the dust.

Well, I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on things.

Today while cleaning the bathroom and putting my bathroom stuff away, I noticed a dead ADULT bed bug on the cloth after I wiped out the drawer in the vanity.  It must have come up by the pipe, because I know it wasn't there when I packed up my stuff because I vacuumed that drawer when it was emptied.

I'm freaking out because last night I started to put stuff away. I haven't gotten to the clothing yet, but finished the spare room, the bathroom, the kitchen drawers, the food pantry and 2 small cupboards (one with baking sheets and the other with oils and teas).

I don't know whether to continue or just live like a hoarder again for another 2 weeks to see if there are anymore!!!!

I'm a very tidy person and like everything in its place, and this constant state of clutter and packed boxes in the middle of my living space is driving me crazy to the point it's affecting my health. I've been living in a state of varoius stages of being packed since April last year when they announced that everyone had to move and then changed their mind and let those in the unrennovated part stay for another 6 months before having to move.

Oh no!!! sounds like they want to get everyone out and set those bomb things off to get rid of them, they sound like they are tough little things to get rid of.

I hope that dead one is the last you see of them!!!!

Bed bugs are an awful thing!  They are so flat; an unfed one is almost as flat as onion skin. Even after feeding they are still very flat. They can get under everything.

The thing about spraying is that it only kills the live ones; it doesn't kill the eggs. Eggs hatch about 10 days after they have been layed. In my opinion, rather than 2 sprays they should be doing 3!  The initial one to kill the live ones.  One 10 days later to kill the newly hatched ones. And a third to make sure that any eggs that were layed after the first spraying and weren't hatched by the second spraying, are killed.

I've continued to unpack. I just can't live in the clutter. I haven't been steaming things as I unpack this time, because I didn't have any bugs, like I did the last time.  But I will be giving my bedrooms a thorough vacuuming and steaming everything including the furniture and the rug, especially near the rubber baseboard so that I can be sure that anything hiding in the rug under the baseboard is dead, including eggs if there are any.

My kitchen is almost put together. I think there is one or two boxes left.  Then I have the linen closet and 3 boxes of clothing and coats and then I should be done....again!  The clothing will be fast. Everything is on hangers so it's just a matter of putting it into the closet.
