My cat Kelsey had developed scab like bumps all over her neck and head so I assumed that she had flees, went out and bought Frontline Plus and the problem went away.  A little over a year later the same problem occurred and I did the same thing.  Two months into the Frontline treatment the problem was not going away at all.  She had licked away hair on her stomach and was covered in scab like bumps all over her neck, head, and belly.  I tried everything from changing her food to the best and most expensive food offered by PetCo to shampoos, to topical sprays to relieve her itching.

Finally nothing was working so I took her to the vet.  The vet said she probably had an allergic reaction to flees which is usually the case 90% of the time.  The vet gave her a steroid shot and gave me 6 months of new topical flee treatment called Revolution.  This was about 6 - 7 weeks ago and the bumps had all gone away and her hair on her stomach began to grow back.  I had thought that I had finally solved the problem after spending hundreds of dollars trying to fix it.

Now about 2 weeks ago i had applied the second treatment of revolution and the scabs are back again and she is losing hair on her stomach very quickly with red marks all over her belly.  I don't know what to do anymore and I don't know how to fix the problem.  I seriously need some help because another trip the vet is going to put me in some financial hardships seeing as I am a poor college student.  If anyone has seen anything like that or has any advice please let me know immediately.

This seems to be a recurring problem.  I'd call the vet again to make sure this is a flea related issue.  Yes, there are problems sometimes even if you are treating with flea meds.  I had a dog once that was treated monthly with Frontline but she was actually allergic to flea saliva.  If the flea bit her before it died, she would get hot spots and scabs etc.  She had to have shots as well.  This was a recurring problem.  I alleviated it somewhat by flea bombing the house every May and treating the lawn with flea and tick spray.  It did help but the problem never really went away completely.  I would call the vet and try to find some type of maintenance program or see if it can possibly be a dietary issue.  Good luck to you!

Key focus on "I assumed that she had flees." did you actually see fleas on her before starting  treatment. I see you started this thread 3 days ago. what are her symptoms know? what did the vet say? did he confirm the existence of fleas. Did you get rid of the fleas in your home? I think what happened with the information you gave is you applied treatment to your cat but never did anything to get rid of the fleas & flea eggs in the home so after eggs hatched they got on your cat. It can take from 2 days to 2 weeks for the flea to hatch into larvae and be killable.
Its wise to apply a flea come and see if any fleas or flea dirt is left behind. more details here as far as fleas go here   in that site you can also consult them for free from the navigation menu.
