This is the one I have:

The pull off display is handy if you are measuring something in a large bowl that hangs over the display.

I use it a lot. I've tested it with calibration weights and it is accurate.

Thanks to you both. I have now looked at the thread. I like the one mschauer has, but it's more than I wanted to spend. I like it because it is flat. I'm looking at this one

which someone in the other thread uses, but I wonder how big it actually is. I have to think about where I will put it when I am not using it. It came up when I put in the search words "food scale made in USA" though I could not see anywhere on the page that it states "made in USA".

Oh well, I might as well just go ahead and get it. I hope I can stop spending money soon. I had to buy new sneakers today too. ugh.

Gail, have you ordered it already? Because I just found this:
I don't know if it's made in the US or not, but it's small and apparently accurate.

Great thread as I'm in the market for a scale. Will be checking these out at work tomorrow.

Too late I already ordered the other one. :lol3: Ah well, it comes with lots of good reviews. What's another $15......

Thanks Laurie!

For anyone still looking, this is the second scale I've bought and I love it:
The top is one solid layer of glass, making it easy peasy to clean. Turning it on and off is a simple touch of the circle on the right that says "tare", and, obviously, once it's on, touching that same spot adds the "tare" amount. Switching from grams to ounces to pounds & ounces is just a matter of tapping the circle on the left until you hit the measurement you want to use, and the scale weighs from .10 ounces all the way to 11 pounds.

It's on sale right now for $26.95 ($8.00 off).

Thanks for the recommendation. I want a new scale, just because if ours does stop working, it might not be at a convenient time to get a new one. :lol3: I saw that when I was looking, and though it's a touch large for our space, I was REALLY interested in it because it looks so easy to clean. :)

But it's wicked thin (just a hair over half an inch) and you could probably slide it sidewise in a kitchen cabinet or under the silverware drawer or someplace similar.

But it's not storing it that's the problem, it's using it. :lol3: It's 9" long. The current one is 7 1/2", and that 1.5" makes a difference with our counter space. :(

Those are the feeding dishes I use too, Laurie! They are the perfect size. Shallow and wide enough not to bother whiskers, but enough lip so the food doesn't end up on the floor.

I like those flat scales, I really do. So I'll keep them in mind, if I ever need another. The one I bought uses AAA batteries and I have a set of rechargeable AAAs from using with my previous camera, that will be a small savings for me too, won't have to buy batteries.

ooooh!
That IS a nice scale.  If mine ever dies, I'm going to check into getting this one.  The only thing I don't like about mine is that if I'm not quick enough, it turns itself off
.  Oh well...nothings perfect.

:lol3: And that space ends at the edge of the picture - that's a wall. I have the cutting board/cover for the sink during travel that I have sitting on top of the stove. There is some counter space on the other side of the sink, but if I put anything over there, it's just a free-for-all. :lol3:

Is she doing quality control checks?  She is such a beautiful girl.
:flail: YES, that must be what she's doing! :lol3:

Flowerbelle has (had) an issue with A.D.D. while eating. I used to feed her in the bathroom, alone, but it still took work to get her to finish (I had to go in and move her bowl around, or pretend to put toppers on her food or whatever).

The cats weren't allowed on the counters. But one night she jumped up while I was prepping their food, and she started eating - and kept going without stopping! So from then on, I allowed her on the counter to eat. OK - so now cats are allowed on the counters (sort of :lol3: ). But as you can see - I'm not even done prepping ALL the cat's meals - and Flowerbelle's bowl (far right front) is basically empty because she ate her meal, so she's looking to graze on the other kitties' foods. :lol3: I don't let her - but she got further than usual because I was taking pictures. :)

Yep - the perfect size for small spaces! :lol3: Shelly still pulls the food out of the dish to chomp on it. I put down placemats I can wash off, but I've been wondering if flat plates with a small lip (to contain some liquid) would change that. :dk:

I've been searching for appetizer plates that might work. So far, I've found these and these

Those are nice! A bit larger than I like, for space issue. And kind of expensive compared to the little Corelle saucers. It doesn't say where they are made. I won't feed my cats on anything but dishes stamped Made In USA because of lead issues. If you get either of them, do let us know how you like them!

Well, the BIA Cordon Blue set is 4.5", so smaller than the little corning dishes. But yes, expensive! That's why I haven't ordered anything yet. :lol3:
