My kitchen is in such disarray. Mike is building me Quilted Maple Cabinets in the kitchen. So some of our small appliances are off on a small rollaway table, while the counter has hammers, nails, screwdrivers etc.. Our toaster is on this small rollaway.

This morning, I put four pieces of bread in the toaster, pushed the lever down and went back to making breakfast on the stove. The kittens were eating on the floor of the dining room.

Soon I heard the toaster pop the toast up and I heard this really wierd "SPOOOONG" noise. I looked over in time to see one piece of toast ejected out of the toaster and go sailing through the air, and land on Noddy's back!

All the kittens in unison, leaped, hissed and spit and skeedaddled underneath the dining room table wondering what in the world happened! LOL

I wonder if Best Buys is open on Sundays? Looks like we need a new toaster!

If they're anything like Simba, they'll now be expecting to have toast delivered to them every morning for breakfast...

How fun to have a new kitchen when it's all done!!!

What a picture! Reminds me of the night that the beer attacked Shasta. I hope I can tell this without body language. I'll try.

This is probably 20 or more years ago. Shasta was no more than 3 at the time, quietly eating her dinner one evening as I was putting beer in the fridge right beside her. One of the bottles burst in my hand. No damage done, thank God! -- unless you count the fact that the beer landed on the cat, who was suitably startled, squawked, jumped several feet up, did a rapid 180, and squirted to the other end of the house.

Having ascertained that I was not bleeding, I quickly abandoned the beer and went to reassure a discombobulated cat, who was by this time on her way back, step by tentative step, towards the kitchen, the while trying to lick this )*&)#*&^*^&^&^&*#)#(*)&*(&*^* liquid from her coat: tiny lick, screwed up face, frenzied shake of the head; tiny lick, screwed up face, frenzied shake of the head; tiny lick, screwed up face, frenzied shake of the head; you get the picture...

Needless to say, though it was side-splittingly funny to the human, the cat was NOT AMUSED!! It was the only time she actually allowed me to wipe her down with (YIKES!) WATER -- after which, of course, she proceeded to lick herself dry.

OMG! Poor kitties!
At least the toast would have tasted much better than the beer!

Haha! Great stories both of you! I love flying toast, dont' you? *grin*

I do have a story to tell, remotely similar to the beer one. Again, this is with Littlebits, my childhood cat.

I was about 5 or 6, so she had to be about 1 or 2. My Father was watching a Football game, I believe, and had a glass of Scotch and water on the table next to him. Littlebits jumps on his lap, and heads towards the drink. My Dad pushed her away, telling her "no".

She jumps on his lap again, and heads towards the drink. Again, my Dad tells her "no" in a sterner voice.

She tries yet again. And another "NO" comes from my Father.

She's a persistant little thing... she tries once more. My Father has had enough. Didn't scold her, didn't push her away, said "Fine, you want it that badly, go ahead, I don't think you'll like it much."

So, Littlebits sticks her head into the glass, laps up some of the Scotch and water, bucks up, reverses from the chair, jumps up a few feet in the air, spits, hisses, then runs around on the carpet, dragging her tongue.

*laughs*

Nope! She always HATED beer -- probably right from the night she -- as a little kitten -- marched up to a glass of beer on the floor and stuck her curious little nose in it. That also provoked a frenzied dash to the opposite end of the house, and thereafter she wasn't the least bit interested in anything that had little bubbles rising in it -- wonder why!

She did get a little buzz one night when I took a hot toddy to bed to put my cold to sleep -- marched right up me and demanded a taste -- which I gave her. She loved it, lapped it up like mother's milk. A few minutes later she got down to go for a piddle, I guess, since she went through the house and was back very soon. But then, she couldn't remember how to get up on the bed! Poor dear.

Yeah, sometimes that's the only way, isn't it?
We've often resorted to the "go ahead" challenge, usually with that kind of result or something similar. The one that surprised us was Gryphon. He came demanding Angel Food Cake, and we figured he'd just leave it, so, like your Dad, we told him 'no' several times. Finally, my Dad, with a generous hunk on his fork, gave him the challenge -- and Gryph gobbled it up -- AND came back for more -- several times. Go figure!

All these stories are hilarious, but MA I painted a perfect picture of those three trips simultaneously jumping in the air. LOL! That made me laugh sooooo hard.
