My cat's urine smells like garlic! Is this normal?

I have 5 cats and one of the 1-year-olds had her first UTI when she was about 3 months old after playing in her litter box and every time I clean the litter box she uses most, I notice it smells worse than the others do. Today I noticed she had just stepped out of it and I was going to clean it anyway and when I scooped up the pee clump, it just wreaked of garlic! It was SO strong! Has anyone else experienced this? Is this something I should be concerned about? She seems healthy otherwise...not showing any signs of UT problems...and aside from just being a generally strange little cat, she's perfectly normal.

That's very interesting. I don't have an answer, but I have noticed sometimes Angel's poop will have a little of that smell too.  ??

I have no idea where this comes from, or why? It will  be interesting to see if anyone on here knows.

Yeah, every once in a while Ritz' pee will smell bad, not really like garlic, but not like roses.  I read somewhere that smelly urine means it's concentrated.  Don't know if that is good or bad.  Ritz doesn't pee a lot or poop (I feed Raw).  I fostered a cat for a week, feeding her high quality wet food [no dry] and "Lacey" peed / pooped a LOT.

I just recently got a kitten and about a week ago I noticed his urine smelling like garlic.. just before I noticed this I had bought him a toy that was stuffed with Catnip.. could it have to do with the Catnip because his urine didn't smell like that before I got him the toy? Or is it because my kitten is Male? Or is this a hormone thing like my kitten is entering into kitten form of puberty and just smells because he's becoming the cat equivalent of a teenager?

Does he eat a lot of fish flavored cat foods? I noticed that my male cat's urine smells bad when he eats too much fish.
