Last year, I traveled to California from New York, and living outside a friends porch is this applehead siamese.
She lived on his porch and would run around in the neighborhood but as soon as she would hear his car, she would run to him no matter where she was.
She was mean to any other cats that came near the porch, even to dogs.
My friend was moving so I decided to take her back to NY with me. We drove back. She was calm in the car, nervous in hotel rooms and when we got to my apartment in NY she hid for 2 days and then was fine.
Two months ago I moved into a home in the country, and she would sleep under the couch in the day and then on my bed at night.
I tried bringing her outside because I wanted her to be familiar with the territory but she wanted no part of it. She tried for the last two weeks to go outside, and would run in when hearing noises.
8 days ago, she got out at night. The next night it thunder stormed and around midnight I heard her crying. I searched but I am in the woods and could not see at all where she was, I was out there for hours and she stopped crying. I failed her.
So many days have gone by, and I search everywhere. I put out flyers, talked to neighbors, set out a trap, but fox are around.
I call her all day and night, I set out food, called all the shelters, set out my worn clothing, catnip trails, I put a baby monitor outside in case she calls for me again.
Why did she call only that once? Wouldn't she have called again?
What can I do?
I feel she might have tried coming back and the door was closed so she thinks I dont want her and she left for good?
Now I sleep with the door open for her at night.
I feel like I am dying. I am so torn and feel I can not share my feelings with anyone because they think it is odd that I feel for this cat more than a human.
Is she feeling my sadness and wont come back? Is she trying to get back to California?
Please help?
