Any advice..?

hi i was in the same situation i foster cats n was asked if i could care for this pregnant kitten who has now given birth to 4 babies i thought the same as didnt see any milk coming from her even though she would sit on my lap but she is doing fine n so are her babies she feeds them well so it is possible that she will feed them i know they r doing fine because i am also hand feeding another kittle who mother abandon it n he isnt as heavy as her babies yet he is 3 wks older than hers if she doesnt feed it/them u will know as they will be constantly screaming but it is best left alone for a little while as she could then feed it/them once they r all born if she has more she could be very tired after so give her some water n put it near her head n let her drink it till she has had enough i gave my kitten after she gave birth over 100mls of water n she drank the lot i had to put it near her head as she was so tired i then put her food near her head she started feeding the kittens so didnt have anything to eat n also she didnt eat for about 3 days afterwards but just to be on the safe side if after about 30mins the babies (if she has anymore) are still screaming n she has had some water then i would put just a small amount of natural yoghurt in a bottle if u have one cause u will need 1 and add some lukewarm water to it they will need feeding every 2 hrs n as soon as u can go n get some kitten milk from the vets if u dont have any natural yoghurt then use a very tiny amount of your milk with the lukewarm water but the natural yoghurt would be better for them u can get from most 24hr shops so i would strongly advise going to get some use about 5mls of it to about 10mls of the water if u have to use your milk then only put .5ml to 10mls of the water

Hi, thanks for your reply ^^ right now, she hasnt given birth to the second one yet..Ive left her alone though for an hour..I checked in on her just now, and left the rolm, bit she's calling me back, should I really be going back in..? She's purring alot, and is wanting pets from me..

Unfortunatly nothing is open, so I cant get anything Dx and Im not sure what Id use to feed the kittens since I dont have an eyedropper..

But , two of her nipples are swollen and I got a sticky substance to come out..? Does that mean that those two are lactating..? But the rest seem dry..

Right now she's laying beside me purring , and not by her first born, or going into labor is that something bad..? .. so I should leave her alone again for a bit..? Or.?

If she wants your company, try to be with her.  Try to arrange it so the mom can also help the newborn simultaneously.

The milk usually comes down, if not immediately so soon after.   Even if it from beginning was dry, that is.

That sticky from two of the tits is with 99,9% safety milk beginning to lactate.

So THIS problem is prob over.

Good you think about what to do IF you must find something.  Remember, you can always try and get help from your neigbours. It is socially acceptable in an emergency to ask them and they will give.  Even neigbours you usually dont talk with.

There are sites on handrearing kittens, but is is prob too early as yet.  Btw, you wrote this post several hours ago, I presume the shops had open by now.

Goat milk if you can get is, is OK. Kitten replacement milk which vets do sell, and also well equipped pet shops.  Cow milk not good, youghurt is less bad, as mentioned above  (later on will yoghurt be OK).

Please, continue to get us updated.

Good luck!

Continuing.

I hope she is taking care of the kitten now. If not, you must try to help the kitten...  Dont forget the kitten must have warm and cozy...

Cats can have several hours, or more, between each kitten, so long pauses dont need to be bad by itself.

It depends on how they seem to feel.  If contend, or if visibly in difficulties.

Several times of unsuccesful labor - you must contact a vet, and be prepared to rush in.

Her wanting your company and purring sounds nice, but MAY be a sign she is uncomfortable... And if she doesnt bother  about her kitten MAY be additional sign she is not well.

Good you are closely observing!

Some friend to ask you  look after his cat just a couple of days.

Of course, better than to just dump the cat on the street. Like is not so unusual.

Good luck!

Hi, Kitty and her baby seem to be doing well now =)
She is licking, and letting the kitten feed off of her..And the kitten seems to be getting bigger too ^^
Ah, and, shops were still not open at that post :p I live in Canada, and go by Vancouver's time ^_^
I phoned a vet late at night that night, and he said to leave her alone for a bit, and see how it goes, but if it was a day or two since tje last kitten to phone them..
But soon as the morning came, I got Kitty some kitten food, and wet canned kitten food and gave her some, mixing the dry food in with her old food.
I did make a bed for her before she had the kitten, some towels and stuff in the closet away from the male. I then made her a kind of tent with another towel in the closet to make her feel a bit more safe...but now she's in a half-covered box in my closet. When I put her in the box instead of the tent, she was ok with it for the most part..but then I was folding laundry and putting it away, so it looked like she was going to find another spot for her baby..So I put her in her box with the kitten, and put my laundry elsewhere for the next day..a bit later I went into my room again to go to sleep, and Kitty came out to greet me..I pet her for a bit then put her back into the box with her kitten..I made my bed, then went to bed..but then later on she moved her Kitten beside me on the bed..? So I carefully placed her Kitten back, and Kitty back, and went to sleep, but then was awoken by her moving the kitten beside me again..Is that good or bad..? Or what does that mean..? Hm, but I did move them back, and she hasnt tried to move her kitten again, so I guess she's ok with the spot now..?
I let her owner know too, and she said that she didnt feel anymore kittens, so it was just the one I guess ^_^
I guess she's a vet tech, so she could (palpatate?) to feel her stomach and everything.

Thanks for all your help guys, it's much appriciated ^_^
