So Im going to be adopting a kitty soon and I read that the kitten should have non-clumping litter so that they won't ingest it .. but someone else suggested for another person to use clumping litter for their kitten. I thought maybe it would be okay to use clumping litter when the kitten reached about a year old? I don't know. Then I read somewhere else that some clumping litters aren't safe? I'm not sure what Im going to use! I just want to make sure that the litter is safe for the kitten. Which brand would be best?

I don't like clumping for kittens or adults and it tends to be dusty which isn't great for breathing in for humans or cats

I prefer wood pellets, extremely economical and long lasting and wonderful odour control

I use Purina Maxx (not the most natural option, but it works great for odors, and I have two cats) and it is clumping. I haven't had dust problems or any problems with it, really.

All 4 of mine have been using Fresh Step clumping for years and years.  Never had a problem with it.  The only thing I don't like about it is the dust.  I'm using the Multi Cat clumping right now.
