Need good vibes that Isaac doesn't affect south Florida.    that's all we've been  hearing on our news all day long.     Of course it's too soon to show exactly where it will go.   A little rain and wind will be ok, but nothing more please!  Just as a precaution I just checked my file for the diagram of our hurricane shutters and which goes on which window and checked the screws.    Not a fun project - but I'm glad we do have hurricane shutters.

Go away Issac!!! My Dh's brother lives in Homestead. After Andrew devasted them so many years ago....they rebuilt with lots of upgrades but it's still worrisome.

Last I heard this morning, there's a chance that Issac will go into the Gulf and pretty much leave Florida alone. Good luck!

It may impact us slightly since we are on the west coast.    Hope we don't need to put the shutters up, but I'm glad we h ave them - just in case.  There's still time for it to turn a little more to the west and avoid much of the impact.   Fortunately we're inland -- people on the gulf coast get hit harder.

Yes, Go Away!!!!  I know what you mean, living here in Wilmington.NC. I'm praying we don't get any Big ones either!!  I just don't know what I would do, now that I have Angel. I live in an old house that was turned into an upstairs & downstairs apartments. I'm upstairs. I think I'm okay, because I've been there for 14yrs now, & so far, so good!
Even the couple of times it was bad, & I went to my parents house, mine was fine. (It's been there for yrs already!)

(My parents at least have a generator, so can at least have the ceiling fans on, if power goes out).

They now have a Very large (18lbs) Black & white cat that adopted them last yr.  I don't think two big male cats that don't know each other in the same house would be a good idea. Their cat is timid, but don't know how he would be around another cat. (he was an old neighbors outside cat, so he hasn't had a lot of human contact. He will lay w/ my mom at night, but during the day, he's a Daddy's boy! He follows my dad around, & lets him pick him up. :)  )

I'd keep Angel separate anyway, just in case, but I hope it doesn't come to that. Stress is bad for Angel!!!!

My friend in Hallandale Beach (Miami area) called me last night and was filling water jugs as we were talking.  He lived there when Andrew went through, so is hoping that this one will give him a miss.   His boss is going to shut the office down till Tuesday or until after Isaac passes.

Yeah, I live in Orlando, but I'm a native of the Panhandle, right in the place where they always hit. So hurricanes are no big deal for me. I would consider it a vacation if it wasn't for the lack of A/C.

Thankfully, we've never had serious damage to our house. We did evacuate for Opal in 1995, and the water from the bayou came up to our back porch in Ivan. But generally, our area was spared the brunt of the storm.

Orlando almost never gets hurricanes, so I'm not too concerned about this little old thing, especially now that the "cone of uncertainty" is directed at the Panhandle. Could use some vibes for my family up there, though. :vibes:
