Has anyone had success in getting your socialized feral cats (not the ones that are still completely feral) to at least tolerate the company of strangers in your house? I am currently fostering four four-month old feral kittens. They have made so much progress with my husband and I but they still get very scared when we invite strangers to come over. They are still in our bathroom and we have had about 10 visitors come in and visit them. I want to try to get them used to company so that if we decide to put them up for adoption they will be adoptable. Should I have visitors bring them food? Any thoughts on this subject?

I was going to suggest that you have the visitors come into their confined space otherwise that will never work if they are able to run and hide when people come over. My cats still run and hide at age two - from company. It really depends too on the personality of the kitten. Some are more outgoing than others - feral or not. I would not overwhelm them and only allow one person in at a time along with your company in there too. Yes - have them bring food or really special treats like Whole Life Freeze Dried Chicken. You can even soak the chicken piece first with water - very, very tempting. Also bring in some wand toys to distract the kittens with play, but make sure you don't leave the wand toys loose in the bathroom. Kittens LOVE to eat string..... :nervous: I would not worry so much about introducing them to strangers though. Each new stranger will bring about the shyness and them wanting to hide. Might be too stressful to them. Once they get adopted into their forever home, they will quickly bond to their new family as long as they confine them in the beginning as well. Sound like you are doing a great, great job with these kittens. Good for you!!!!:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
