Hey guys. It's Pumpkin's loyal staff member again. Pumpkin was on top of the refrigerator and jumped down onto the kitchen floor. He's a big boy and almost 10. Of course he seems to now be favoring his left front leg a little when he walks. I keep telling him, when you're middle aged, you MUST stretch before any strenuous exercise, yet he ignores my advice.

He seems fine otherwise. Hes jumped up in front of the computer as I'm trying to write this. I'm wondering if there is anything I can give him for pain.  Years ago when my family was staff to a beautiful German Shepherd her vet told us it was okay to give her a special coated type of asprin when she would over exert herself. I know I can't do that with cats. But I'm wondering if there is anything I can buy that is safe for the feline system.

As always thanks so much.

He could also have a touch of arthritis, you know, since he's a middle-aged kitty and that's when the body starts falling apart.  I give Cosequin to help with that.  For the sprain, perhaps a heating pad covered in a nice thick towel will help.  Other than getting something from the vet for pain, there's nothing OTC that I know of that's safe for kitties.

Hey there. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I found some pretty good prices on the Coquesin on Amazon. I will definitely order some. He doesn't seem to be arthritic, but I know it's a common thing among older cats and dogs, so I'm going to start him on some for maintenance.

On his pulled muscle, I did for him what I do for my self. I started massaging the shoulder muscles and his forearm muscles immediately after it happened. I did it at various times through out the evening and early morning and he seems much improved today. He didn't cry or anything when it happened, so it seems to be okay.
